🚔 Church Street – Tackling ASB Together 🚔

Our local neighbourhood officers have continued their foot patrols around Church Street and the surrounding area today.

We would like to thank members of the public for their continued support and engagement, and for taking the time to speak with us and share their concerns and issues regarding the area. Your feedback helps us understand what matters most to the local community and where we need to focus our efforts.

⚠️ Another warning notice has been successfully issued today as we continue to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and keep the area safe for everyone.

🚁 Our drone has also been deployed, providing officers with an excellent overview of the area. This allows us to identify and respond to ongoing issues quickly and target our resources where they are needed most.

We remain committed to taking action and working alongside our communities to address the issues affecting Church Street.

ASB will not be tolerated, and neither will the inappropriate or unlawful use of e-bikes and e-scooters in the area.

Members of our local neighbourhood team will once again be out and about on Church Street and the surrounding area today.

We’ll be speaking with local residents, businesses and members of the community, listening to any concerns and continuing our efforts to keep the area safe.

👮‍♀️ Easington NPT – School Engagement 👮‍♂️

Our Easington Neighbourhood officers have today visited Easington Colliery Primary School to spend some time with the Year 3 children. 🏫

The children took part in a discussion around communication and listening, exploring why these skills are so important in policing and how officers communicate effectively with people in our communities.

Engagement with local young people is an important part of neighbourhood policing. Building positive relationships from an early age helps children understand the role of the police, feel comfortable speaking to officers and know that we are here to listen and support them.

A big thank you to the children and staff at Easington Colliery Primary School for welcoming us today – we really enjoyed meeting you all! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

🚓 CHURCH STREET & SURROUNDING AREAS – ASB PATROLS

Your local neighbourhood officers have been out patrolling Church Street and the surrounding areas today as part of our ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and provide reassurance to our local community.

👮 Officers have spoken with local business owners and members of the public, listening to concerns and gathering information about issues affecting the area.

🛴 E-scooter seized
Officers have also seized an e-scooter after it was ridden along Church Street.

We would like to remind e-scooter users of the risks associated with riding these vehicles on public pathways and in busy areas.

Where an e-scooter is being used in a manner that causes, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to a member of the public, officers may utilise their powers to seize the vehicle.

Our patrols don’t stop here 👀

You can expect to see more of your local neighbourhood officers throughout the weekend, as we continue to maintain a visible presence around Church Street and the surrounding areas.

Today, officers have issued three Community Protection Warning's (CPW) to individuals in relation to their behaviour around Church Street and surrounding areas.

A CPW is a formal warning issued to an individual whose behaviour is having a persistent, unreasonable, or detrimental impact on the quality of life of people within the local community. The warning outlines the specific actions the individual must take, or cease, and explains the potential consequences of failing to comply with these requirements. Where the behaviour continues or the conditions of the warning are breached, further enforcement action may be taken, including the service of a Community Protection Notice (CPN).

These actions form part of ongoing work to tackle anti-social behaviour reported by residents, businesses and members of the public across Seaham.

We will continue to listen to concerns from our local community and take appropriate action where individuals continue to engage in behaviour that negatively impacts others.

If you're experiencing ASB in your area, please continue to report it. Your reports help us build a picture of what is happening and target our patrols and enforcement activity where it is needed 📢

Local Officers from Seaham Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting foot patrols on Church Street, Seaham tomorrow (Friday 18th September) between 12pm and 2pm.

During the patrol, officers will be speaking with local businesses and members of the public. If you see them out and about, please feel free to stop for a chat, raise any concerns you may have, discuss local issues, or simply say hello 👋

Don't forget that there is also a PACT Meeting taking place at Seaham Library tonight (Thursday 17th September) from 6pm to 7pm. Local officers will be in attendance and available to discuss any concerns or answer your questions.

On Monday, Seaham Neighbourhood Policing Team came together with our local community for our Charity Golf Day 2026, and thanks to your incredible support we raised an amazing £2100 towards providing life-saving defibrillators for Seaham and Murton ❤️

🚜Rural Crime Week

Last week we teamed up with partner forces and agencies to carry out targeted strikes on those who mistakenly think our rural communities are an easy target.

Highlights included:
👊A Ford Mondeo that was suspected to have been involved in burglaries in the Carlisle area and believed to be operating in the Crook area on three different number plates was found hidden in a garage by patrolling PCSOs Robson and Clark. Crook NPT and Response officers subsequently seized the vehicle and arrested two suspects as well as recovering £3k in cash. An investigation is ongoing.
👊A horse box stolen in the Cumbria area was recovered in Sunniside within 24 hours and one man arrested on suspicion of theft. It turns out he was also wanted for he**in drugs offences and a subsequent search of his address uncovered further Class A drugs, a he**in press and suspected stolen power tools.
👊Two trailers, one believed to have been stolen during a burglary in Selkirk and one confirmed stolen from Warrington 17 years ago, were also recovered and dealt with by officers from Barnard Castle NPT.
👊A stolen caravan from the Avon and Somerset area was located in Streetlam, Barnard Castle after officers used the force drone to track it. The rightful owner has been notified and the caravan will be returned.

Teams across the force also took part Operation Checkpoint, which sees officers team up with our Rurali groups to stop suspicious vehicles and individuals, intercepting criminals and even some of our Rurali members, who were happy to be stopped.

Prevention work continued with the launch of our new SelectaDNA scheme at Wolsingham and Stanhope Agricultural Shows.

Other items on offer were safer homes kits, locks, alarms and stop me stickers, supported by the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner. Officers who attended the events all did so on their rest days to support the project.

This work and our commitment to our rural residents continues all-year-round.

👮Officers will also be attending Eggleston Agricultural Show on Saturday, September 19. Please come and say hello. We will be issuing SelectaDNA kits to farm residents across Teesdale, just bring proof of address or utility bill.
