Here’s a snapshot of what Easington Neighbourhood Policing Team has been up to this week…
Community Speed Watch – Easington Primary School
We were delighted to visit our local primary school and team up with our fantastic Year 6 Road Safety Squad, who joined us to help carry out a Community Speed Watch.
During a 35-minute period, 118 vehicles passed through the area, with one vehicle recorded travelling over the speed limit. The registered keeper will be hearing from us.
It is so important to involve young people in road safety. By working alongside the children, we hope to encourage parents and carers to think carefully about their speed and parking around our schools, helping to keep everyone safe.
South Hetton Primary School Summer Fayre
Officers also enjoyed visiting the South Hetton Primary School Summer Fayre. It was great to meet so many children and families, with lots of youngsters enjoying a look around the police van and asking our officers some brilliant questions.
Tackling Shop Theft
A number of prolific shoplifters have been arrested and charged in connection with theft offences across our area. These include Catherine Parkin, Zara Hawkins and Joanna Scott.
We will continue working closely with local businesses to identify offenders, gather evidence and ensure those responsible are brought before the courts wherever possible.
Neighbourhood Patrols
High-visibility patrols have continued across all of our communities this week. Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat with us, share information or simply say hello. Your conversations help us understand the issues that matter most to you and strengthen the relationship between your neighbourhood policing team and the communities we serve.
As always, if you have concerns or information you’d like to share, please come and speak to us when you see us out on patrol.
