Our next Shaka by Candlelight evening is happening on Friday 21st August, 7–9pm 🕯️🎶

We’ll be turning the lights down, filling the tables with flickering tea lights and fairy lights, and creating that cosy, intimate Shaka atmosphere we all love. ✨

We’re going to Kendal Calling Festival very soon!🎶🌿

Meaning there will be just a few changes to our usual opening days and times coming up….but…we’ve also added an extra couple of opening days to help make up for it!

We’ll be here serving coffee, cake and lunch until our holiday starts, then here and back open on Wednesday 5th August. ❤️☕️

✨ SHAKA BY CANDLELIGHT IS BACK ✨

Once a month, we transform Shaka into a cosy evening venue, serving our daytime menu by candlelight, with vinyl records playing and a menu of delicious homemade desserts. 🤎🕯️

These evenings have become so popular that we’ve started keeping a little book of phone numbers. Before we announce each date publicly, we send a message to those customers, giving them the chance to book before the date goes live.

We’ve already sent these messages for Friday 24th July, and we’re incredibly grateful to say the early tables have all been snapped up. The next available bookings are now from 8pm onwards.

We’ve had so many people ask if we’d consider running Shaka by Candlelight more than once a month. As much as we’d love to, we really believe its charm comes from being something special to look forward to. We’d rather keep it intimate, exclusive and worth the wait than make it just another evening service.

If you’d like to join us on Friday 24th July, we’d love to welcome you. Just be quick… these evenings never stay available for long. 🤍

✨ Our little corner of Shaka was full of stories, imagination and inspiration yesterday, and we loved every minute of it. ✨

We were delighted to host GillyKing Creative Storytelling and be part of such a wonderful event. It was a fantastic evening of creativity, connection, and community, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came along and made it so special.

Moments like these are a lovely reminder of what Shaka is all about — bringing people together in a warm and welcoming space.

Did you know that Shaka is available for private use at no charge? Whether you’re planning an intimate celebration, a group gathering, a club meeting, a workshop, or a community event, we’d love to help provide the space.

We already host our monthly Book Club and our popular Shaka by Candlelight evenings each month, and we’re always excited to welcome new groups and ideas into the Shaka family.
