This week we celebrate an achievement for our wonderful General Assistant, Karen! Karen has been awarded a JRHT Values Champion for going ‘that extra mile’. Karen works tirelessly to ensure our communal spaces are clean & tidy 🧼🧹 but so many other things in addition! Karen supports the team in many ways: Health & Safety checks 🔥 cover for the Reception team 📕 support for Duncan 🔨 & gardening 🌼 Karen has also researched into how our communal washrooms can be made more ‘Stoma Friendly’. Well done Karen!! The award is very well-deserved!! 🥇 🤩💕

We had the honour of celebrating our lovely Barbara’s 100th birthday a couple of weeks ago 🎂🎉🤩 what a fabulous occasion! Thank you to everyone who joined in, & helped to make it a celebration to remember 🙏💕 Thank you to the fantastic ‘The Hunmanbees’ for the ukele songs, the Catering Team for the wonderful canapes & cakes and to all our helpers on the day. We were really pleased to be joined by the fabulous Deputy Lord Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, Mrs Venetia Wrigley, for the presentation of Barbara’s card from King Charles & Camilla 🥇 thank you to all Barbara’s family & friends, to all the residents & friends who attended & to Deputy Mayor, Sarah Mason 🎉🤩🎶 we hope you all enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did 💕🎉🎂🌼& of course, thank you to Barbara! What a truly amazing lady you are 🌹 ###

We celebrated Mental Health Awareness week by thinking about what makes us happy - what do we enjoy & what can we do to help maintain our mental health 🧠 Our residents & visitors joined in with a host of events including: Open Art Gallery, Kara’s Scheme Walkabout 🌳 🍃 & Hand Massage sessions 🤚 We welcomed the fabulous Scarborough Wellbeing Choir who performed a host of uplifting songs 🎶 Poetry Group, Garden Club, Bake Sale, Film Club 🎥 with the film of choice: the gorgeous ‘Roman Holiday’, and culminating with Bobby’s Afternoon of Fun & Games!💕 Thank you to everyone who supported the events & to the team for all the planning of what turned out to be a fabulous week 🧡💚

Well, we had a fabulous afternoon on Friday celebrating VE Day with the amazing talent of Julie Anne Smith, singing songs from the 40s, 🎶 A Nightingale Sang to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, to La Vie En Rose 🌹 & playing spoons to the Lambeth Walk 🥄 🥄 interspersed with just the right level of whimsical prose, thoughtfulness & acknowledgement from the remarkable Tim Tubbs 🇬🇧 a truly fantastic time & much appreciated by our residents & guests 🙏 🇬🇧 (thank you to all our helpers, Karen, Ash & Sam for the scones, Sally, Ali & Chris, Alison & Judy who all did various stuff!)
