NEW WALKING MAP // We have created a new walking map that incorporates the sea views, marshes and coastal forest to the north of our pub, in light of the wildfire on Dunwich Heath earlier this summer. Ideal for wildlife enthusiasts hoping to catch a glimpse of wading birds, be sure to stop by for a fuelling breakfast or rewarding pint for the 7-mile round route.

COMMUNITY // When times are tough, you really see the strength of a community. Thank you to everyone who sent messages, checked in and showed us kindness while we were closed due to the Dunwich Heath wildfire.

We’re grateful to be back, see familiar faces, and are thinking of ways to support the recovery of Dunwich Heath.

A LITTLE UPDATE // We're thrilled to hear RSPB Minsmere has reopened today (please check their website for any restrictions still in place) and the main road in and out of Dunwich has also opened, so access to our pub, carpark and beach carpark is now clear.
We hope to see some of our lovely community again soon!

FIRE UPDATE

10am 31st July // We are pleased to let you know that The Ship is reopening today from 5pm.

Check-in: From 3pm as normal
Food & drink service: From 5pm as normal

If you have any questions regarding a future booking, please get in touch with us on 01728 648219.

While some roads in the surrounding area remain closed due to the wildfire on Dunwich Heath, access to The Ship is still available. We’ve put together a map to help you find the best route.

Thank you for your patience and understanding over the last 24 hours. We are incredibly grateful to the emergency services who have worked tirelessly to tackle the fire, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our guests back today.

4pm 30th July // With crews continuing to tackle the wildfire on Dunwich Heath, our sister pub, The Westleton Crown is here for our local community. If you need a drink, a place to sit or simply a moment away from it all, our doors are open.

10am 30th July // Due to the wildfire on Dunwich Heath, we have made the decision to close today to ensure team and guest safety while emergency services continue to work in the area.

Our guests have been contacted directly. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Most importantly, we hope everyone working to tackle the fire stays safe.

The Dunwich Dynamo is back ! // On Sunday 26th July from 2am we are open for one of our biggest events of the year. Cyclists travelling for miles on end, and finishing with a coastal stop in Dunwich.
