Settle in with a brew because this is a long (and very honest) one 🥲
I really try to be transparent with you guys about the success and challenges of the baking business and sometimes social media makes things look more successful or shiner than they truly are.
As I’m sure you all could guess, the food industry is crazy unpredictable and there’s always the risk of wasted stock.
The past few weekends have been eerily quiet for me, resulting in a fair bit of wastage (which breaks my heart) and a profit loss too 😭
Now don’t get me wrong, I have some gorgeously lovely regulars who are genuinely the most incredible people and I’m so so grateful, but unfortunately I can’t expect the same 5-6 families to keep my little business going.
I’m not going to lie, it’s a stressful time and I’m not sure what the best plan is going forward. I could open two weekends a month and go back to working full time or I could throw everything I have at this tiny business to make it work.
I sure as hell am not a quitter, but I am a crier 😂 so I guess this is my long winded way of saying that I have to find a way to make this work for me and my family whilst simultaneously crying a little less.
So for the rest of this weekend, to cut back on waste and to recover some of my ingredients costs, I will be doing a ‘pay what you can’ evening.
I will be leaving the price signs out as a guideline but for this weekend only, you can choose how much you can afford to pay for things.
I just ask that you don’t take more than you can realistically get through so that everybody gets the chance to try something!
