One whole year since we closed the doors to ABDA on Crown Street.
And honestly, we didn’t really close the doors and walk away.
There’s so much that happens behind the scenes when you close a business. The financials, the admin, the loose ends, the things you’re still responsible for long after the lights go off. It’s been incredibly hard - and, at times, much harder than we ever expected, and so much harder than we feel everyone realises.
But one year on, we can also see just how much has happened because we made that decision.

☕️ Exhibited at Manchester & Liverpool Coffee Festival
🌍 Taken ABDA to Liverpool Arab Arts Festival
💍 Catered our biggest wedding yet
🎓 Delivered coffee training for multiple venues, and private experiences
🍰 Baked A LOT of cakes
🍷 Hosted supper clubs in other venues (shoutout to )
🫘 Developed our own original coffee processing + infusion method
💸 Finally finished paying off our VAT bill - 10 months later
🏡 Finished renovating our house
✈️ Taken family holidays, including visiting family in Egypt (we still pray and hope that one day it can be Sudan)
❤️ Been more present for both of our families
☕️ Spent time with customers who have become friends
…and said YES to opportunities we simply didn’t have the capacity to say yes to before.
If we hadn’t closed those doors, so many other doors wouldn’t have opened.
ABDA might have closed on Crown Street, but it never really went away. ❤️

Thank you for continuing to remind us that what we built meant something.
We’re still figuring out exactly what comes next.
But for the first time in a long time, we’re excited about having the capacity to find out 🫶🏽
