A little light for them, always.
Content warning: baby loss and miscarriage.
Please look after yourself and only read on if you feel able to. Sending so much love to anyone who needs it 🤍
For those who have reason to know, it's impossible for this week to go by unnoticed and unfelt.
Today marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week. It's a time that gives me a constant lump in my throat while also making me feel so incredibly lucky to have my two boys.
I'm an oversharer naturally anyway, but I also feel like this is something that should be openly spoken about. It doesn't matter if it makes anyone else feel uncomfortable. If it's your truth, you should be able to talk about it. I'm a firm believer that those who didn't get to stay deserve to be talked about, too. For me, it keeps them real.
Alex and I lost two babies when we were trying for our second.
It was horrific. It broke me.
And yes, we have our second baby now, and I'm so incredibly grateful. But I still often feel like someone is missing. I think there'll always be a part of me missing.
Gratitude and grief can exist together. One doesn't cancel out the other, although we're so often made to feel like it should.
There's a tiny candle painted in the mural at The Nook. I didn't ask for it to be there, but it's become one of the most meaningful details in the whole place to me. Every time I see it, I think of the two we never got to meet.
All I can do now is light my candle for the Wave of Light, carry their memory with me, and be the best mum to Archer and Cody that I can possibly be.
It's my mission to fill their days with light, love, and magic. And really, those are all the things The Nook came from. The hope of sharing a little of that light, love, and magic with as many children as possible.
For all the little ones who should be here. 🤍🤍
