doubt that you are by the sea. After a long day lazing on the beach, our south facing terrace is the perfect place to relax, have a long drink, and watch the world go by. You may even see your dinner being landed on the harbourside. The Idle Rock’s restaurant, run by our Head Chef, Carla Jones, is a celebration of Cornwall; showcasing a range of fabulous produce that has been sourced locally using only seasonal fresh ingredients. In many cases it will have been swimming right on our doorstep only a few hours earlier and while the food is of the very highest standard, our setting is very relaxed. For those seeking a truly memorable summer evening, the late Thursday ferry offers an irresistible escape. Board in Falmouth as the day cools, arriving on our shores in perfect time for golden hour on the terrace.

Here, time seems to slow. Linger over handcrafted cocktails and the crispest coastal wines before surrendering to a beautifully curated dinner overlooking the water.

To finish? A moonlit return trip across the bay to round out the night.

Few rituals capture the magic of a coastal summer quite like a sun-drenched afternoon by the water's edge.

As August unfolds, our waterside terrace has come alive with Rosé on the Rocks in partnership with , where delicate, fresh seafood, ice-cold rosé, and the gentle rhythm of the St Mawes tide meet. It has truly become the highlight of the weekend for so many of our guests.

With August drawing the summer toward its lingering close, there remain only a few precious Saturdays to enjoy this seasonal tradition. We invite you to raise a glass with us at before the month slips away.
