FRIENDLY FOLKS! Next week, four local artists will begin taking over the walls of Folks as part of Friendly Folks - a collaborative exhibition celebrating creative community, supportive networks and conversation.

The group first formed in 2020 as the ‘Lockdown Artists Hub’, meeting weekly over video calls to share ideas, encouragement and talk nonsense together. Six years on, the friendship - and creativity - continues.

Alongside artwork from all four artists, there’ll be open chit-chat boards, fortnightly Wednesday creative drop-ins, and plenty of space for conversation.

Linda also designed the very first Folks cup stamp, while Eleanor previously exhibited as part of our artist collaboration series, which makes this one feel especially special.

The artists will begin hanging work next week and we can’t wait to see it all come together.

A slow coffee and incense - my morning ritual before opening Folks.

This week I’ve been brewing coffees from - fresh on our retail shelf. We currently have around eight of their coffees in, from Colombia, Ethiopia, China and Kenya.

This one is Raspberry Ripple and it’s wild - raspberry ripple, strawberries and Neapolitan ice cream.

We’re closed next week for decorating, so pop by today or tomorrow if you need some exciting beans for your home brews.

We’ll be closed from 11-15 May for a few days of decorating, maintenance and a little refresh.

There’ll be ladders, lots of decisions and probably a fair amount of dust!

Back open Saturday 16 May with coffee, cakes & a new look.

Plenty of retail coffee (whole beans only) if you need to stock up this weekend.

A special one for the local event of the year - the Jack in the Green release from 💚

A Colombian grown by Edison Argote, whose coffees have been some of my favourites this year.

Tastes like papaya, brown sugar & floral.

We sold out of the first batch in a day, but Bryn dropped off more this morning.

£1 from every bag goes towards supporting the festival.

If you’ve been into Folks recently, you’ll have seen work on the walls.

Her work has captured so much attention - many of you have been drawn to the blue and to the small, thoughtful, often funny moments in her writing.

Her prints (£20), tees and The Little Blue Book have been making their way out into the world - lots of you have been picking them up for friends. 💙💙💙

“Found at Sea” really seemed to resonate with a lot of you - the original sold quickly, but Celeste has more plans for those words.

She’s also had a few commissions come through, which has been really lovely to see.

It’s been truly wonderful having her work in the space & will miss it when it goes in a few weeks!

I found on my trip to Edinburgh, and after a really lovely chat with Danny, ordered a few to bring to Folks.

Seven coffees on the shelf this week - five for filter, two for espresso.

I can’t wait to try the Kii AA - raspberries and vanilla!

And if you’re ever in Edinburgh, their new café is well worth a visit.
