The Selkie Seafood Bar is on the hunt for another kitchen legend to join our small but mighty crew.

Brunches, light lunches, seafood plates, and good vibes — no late nights, no shouting, no drama. Just beach views, proper food, and a team that actually respects each other (rare, we know).

It’s been five days since we launched our new brunch menu and we’re reeling from the response!

Even with wild wind and rain battering the coastline last week, you still packed us out every day — and the feedback has been phenomenal. Thank you so much to everyone who’s come down, tried the new dishes, and shown The Selkie so much love. 🦪❤️

Going forward, we’re open every day (in true Selkie style), with brunch service running 8am–2pm.
Come keep making The Selkie your cosy little breakfast spot by the sea — we’re here, storm or shine. ⚓️✨

GRAND! HUGE!! MASSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! ⚓️🔥
Three years in… and we’ve finally finished the kitchen we always dreamed of… which means The Selkie is officially launching a proper brunch service!
And with our newly expanded indoor space, there’s now plenty of room for you to come in, warm up, and settle into our cosy, below-deck Selkie hideout.

Launching this Thursday (4/11) we’ll be rolling out our brand-new Brunch Menu: a delicious mix of locally sourced breakfast classics with a Selkie Seafood twist.

Our new kitchen will be led by the fantastic of Sea Kale fame, running brunch Monday–Sunday, 8am–2pm. And yes — keep your eyes peeled for supper clubs and special evening events coming soon…
Don’t worry: our classic stews, Portuguese tinned fish and, of course, oysters aren’t going anywhere.

THIS WEEK ONLY (Thurs–Sun): 30% OFF all new menu options as an introductory offer while we get everything oiled, seasoned and running smoothly. Your feedback — and patience 😅 — will be massively appreciated as we find our feet.

Huge thanks to the brilliant Selkie team for pulling together to make this happen, and to the incredible for the gorgeous kitchen and seating redesign.

We’ve just read this lovely article written by Selkie regular , and we have to admit, we are genuinely moved.

It’s wonderful to have someone capture the spirit and ethos of the place in words — the humour, the warmth, the pride our little team brings to the hatch every day, and the simplicity and honesty of what we serve.

We never set out to be anything other than a small, genuine, coastal spot doing things with care and to have that reflected back to us in an article like this, and to be mentioned in the same breath as those hidden trattorias and mountain tavernas… well it means more than we can say.

Wild weather out there today! 😮‍💨
but we open whatever the weather and inside The Selkie it’s warm, cosy and glowing… 🌧️🌊😉

We've missed you 🥹
We spent this week fitting a new kitchen and expanding our indoor seating so that we can continue to serve the community over the winter months ❄️

The Selkie will be opening up the hatches and welcoming you back with open arms tomorrow morning from 8am sharp 🧜🏽‍♀️
We'll be offering the usual pastries, soups, stews and oysters, along with delicious wines, bloody Marys and cocktails.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks as we begin to expand our food offering!

⚓️ From Monday 03/11, The Selkie is battening down the hatches! 🦪

This week we’re closing our doors, just for a short while, for a little glow-up.

We’re giving our seating area a refresh to make things extra cosy for winter — more room for you lovely lot to huddle in with oysters, wine and stew season approaching! 🥂🍲🔥

And most exciting of all, our kitchen is getting a full refit so we can bring you a bigger and better menu when we reopen.

Keep an eye out for reopening updates and sneak peeks of what’s to come — we’ll be back before you know it, refreshed, recharged, and ready to feed you!

Sure, The Selkie shines on a sunny day — but we’re more than beach vibes ☀️🌊.
Step inside and you’ll find hot coffees, fresh pastries, a crackling (faux but fabulous 🔥) fire and the kind of cosiness that makes stormy days feel like a treat.
Add oysters, wine, hearty stews and good company… and suddenly autumn doesn’t seem so bad. 🍂🦪🍷 Come hide away with us!

Join us on Sunday 28th September, 4–8pm for an evening of live music, community, and fun!
Whether the sun is shining or the clouds are rolling in, wrap up warm, bring your friends, and come celebrate the last of summer and the start of autumn—all while supporting Milly! 💛
