What an afternoon... fundraising with smiles! We raised a whopping £600 at our charity fundraising event yesterday for our Chairman's charity of the year: Musical Memories dementia support group - huge thank you to everyone who joined us and have been so generous while having fun! And to all our volunteers, special thanks because without you it just wouldn't have been possible 💛💙

We were also delighted to be able to host our local Mayor, Stephen Little, who gave up his time to visit us to draw the raffle and to learn a little bit of who we are, his interest in local community and the importance of music was very evident and his supportive comments were very much appreciated.

Tommy who visits Musical Memories entertained us with his fabulous singing. We all know how much a friendly smile, a chat or simply spending time with others can brighten our day and we can see how Musical Memories can do this for people living with dementia. The parts of the brain that process music are often the last to be affected, so familiar songs have a unique power to unlock old memories, reduce anxiety, and bring genuine moments of joy and connection. We are very proud to be able to support such a worthy cause!

For more information on how you can join us at future coffee mornings and / or events, contact local social organiser Nicola at St Helens & Warrington Oddfellows [email protected] 07456 91565 we'd love to welcome you 🥰

Sylvia will be leading our beginners Art in the Park session at Taylor Park on Friday 16 October 10am prompt start time and guiding us to create something fabulous and easy with her trademark style of warmth and humour. Previous sessions we have painted in acrylic, used charcoal, pastels and produced a watercolour image using lots of swooshes and simple tips. There's no intimidating fancy work or expectations, it's give it a go - you will surprise yourself with what you can do as we are guided in step by step detail to create our very own artwork to take home!

Everyone is invited, you'd be made to feel very welcome, we're a friendly bunch who love to chat and meet new friends. The building is fully accessible with ramp access to reach the upper level from outside. (We are upper floor of the modern building on stilts not in the boathouse)

Please register your interest with Nicola if you would like to take part in the activity to aid our preparations 🥰 For a chat about this or any of our events call Nicola on 07456915655 or email [email protected] St Helens & Warrington Oddfellows 🎨🖌
