When you choose a place to eat out it's not just the food and drink being served you need to consider but also the ambiance of the venue you choose and how comfortable you will be for the time you are there. That's why we allow space around each seat so no one feels restricted. It's why we put comfortable cushions on seats and have a settee. It's why we always try to have nice flowers or herbs or something that is natural and pretty on the tables so it all looks nice. It's why we have a real flame fire in the lounge area when it gets cold and nice music to listen to that's not in your face drowning out your conversation. It's why we employ only lovely people who notice if you are sitting alone and might need a chat but can judge if you want to be left alone. We can't please every one but we hope you like it

Hubble bubble toil and trouble - it's that time of the year again when my cauldron comes out for the making of jams, pickles and chutneys. My happy place ! Pictured is the start of next years plum chutney which will be stunning with cheese and hams . It's all been made and put away in a dark place to settle and let the flavours mature and get to know each other. When ready I'll pop the seal on the lid and spread it on.....................what ? a warm baguette ? a lovely sandwich with Martins bakery bread and some mature cheddar ? a crisp toastie with ham and soft warm brie ? or a yumpcious savoury scone ?

We introduced three new toasties this summer and are thrilled to say that all our going down very well. We thought the sweet chilli chicken and cheese would be top dog with Halloumi olive and sweet chilli and the goats cheese and marmalade fighting it out for second place. However we were wrong as the Halloumi has romped into first place , Sweet chilli chicken coming in second place and still selling well but couldn't quite out pace the chicken was the goats cheese. Lots are choosing to have these in Baguettes as well - not in our plan but they are now
