The story behind sour cherry. 🤍

In Persian culture, sour cherries are not a novelty, they are a staple. Albaloo turn up all year round, in albaloo polo, the sour cherry rice served at weddings and celebrations, and in the syrups and preserves kept in almost every kitchen. Nobody tries to make them sweeter than they are. The sharpness is the whole point.

That is exactly what it does here. Our sour cherry ripple is made in house and folded through sweet cream, so the tartness hits first and the cream follows just behind it.

It is one of the flavours you tell us about the most, and one of the closest to where Darlish began.

Alongside our new Hot Sundaes, we’ve added four hot chocolates to the autumn/winter menu: classic, mint, rose and pistachio.

And because we’re Darlish, there’s also a saffron & honey hot milk. Golden, gently sweet and made for colder days.

Two scoops, chosen properly. 🤍

Some combinations just work. Belgian chocolate with black tahini, so the sesame cuts through the cocoa. Sweet cream with sour cherry, sharp against soft. Iranian pistachio with orange blossom, both floral, neither fighting the other.
