Welcome to The Waffle House, located within the 16th Century, Grade II listed Kingsbury watermill overlooking the River Ver in the tranquil Conservation Area of St Michaels Street, St Albans. A family business since 1978, we specialise in sweet and savoury Belgian waffles individually cooked to order with many organic and free-range ingredients. The Mill, which sits on the River Ver, is situated at the lower end of the beautiful Verulamium Park which has walks, sports facilities, a children’s play area and a large lake with many species of birds. Verulamium Museum, the Roman Hypocaust and the Amphitheatre are all just a short walk through St. Fishpool Street with many fine period buildings runs past the Abbey down to St Michaels village from the city centre.

Six new dishes, from something sweet with British strawberries and Chantilly cream to slow-cooked Blythburgh free-range Mexican pork, plus a few things in between.

🍓 Strawberries & Cream — fresh British strawberries, whipped Chantilly cream and golden icing sugar

🌿 Pistachio Cream — vanilla bean ricotta cream, dark chocolate chips, pistachios, pistachio crème anglaise and candied orange on a candied peel & cinnamon waffle

🌽 Mexican Pork — 12-hour slow-cooked Blythburgh free-range pork shoulder, Mexican bean stew, chipotle crema and a sweetcorn, red onion & coriander waffle

🍄 Stuffed Field Mushroom — roasted field mushroom, goat’s cheese, mascarpone & panko stuffing, watercress purée, rocket, pine nuts and Parmesan crisp

🌶️ Chilli Con Carne — grass-fed prime Scotch beef, chipotle-spiced tomato sauce, peppers and kidney beans, topped with sour cream, tortilla chips and mature cheddar

🔥 Hot Maple Halloumi — crispy halloumi, poached eggs, smashed avocado, smoky hot maple syrup, spring onions, chilli, sesame and coriander on a freshly baked waffle

🍓 Our current specials won't be around for much longer.

We're changing the specials board next week, so now is the time to make the most of a few favourites before they go.

🍓 English Strawberry Cheesecake — fresh English strawberries, sweet strawberry coulis, whipped vanilla mascarpone cream and toasted almond crumble, served on a freshly baked waffle.

🥚 Turkish Style Poached Eggs — buttered spinach, rich tomato sauce, free-range poached eggs, yoghurt and chilli lemon butter, served on a freshly baked waffle.
