Some recent coffees. Generally, I'm only brewing bangers now.
This is why I am quiet. I don't want/feel like talking. I feel a bit shut down. Yes I have spoken to my doctor. It's a souvenir from Australia. They have all my medical records. Physically I'm fit as a fiddle, emotionally, I'm a bit drained.
Trauma-induced mutism is a condition where individuals lose their ability to speak, either completely or in specific situations, due to extreme stress or a flashback. It is most commonly classified as a physiological "freeze" response where the nervous system is overwhelmed, rather than an unwillingness to speak.
Common triggers
* High-conflict arguments or shouting.
* Reminders, smells, or sights associated with a traumatic event.
* Experiencing intense feelings of panic, fear, or a desire to escape.
* Feeling pressured or put on the spot to talk.
Trauma-based mutism is highly treatable with consistent mental health support. Therapies often focus on treating the underlying PTSD rather than the speech symptom directly.
