What’s the ONE food you’d bring back tomorrow if you could eat gluten safely?

Not a meal.

Not a restaurant.

Imagine being diagnosed with coeliac disease in Wales today.

You could receive a prepaid gluten free food card to help cover the extra cost of gluten free staples.

Meanwhile, many people in England have seen gluten free prescriptions reduced or removed altogether.

Same condition.
Same medical need.
Very different support.

It’s brilliant to see Wales recognising that a gluten free diet isn’t a lifestyle choice. It’s treatment.

But it does raise a question…

The cross section you’ve all been asking for.
Look at those layers. 👀

For years, gluten free croissants were the thing people said couldn’t be done properly.

Too dense.
Too dry.
Too disappointing.

So we took that personally.

Flaky on the outside.
Soft in the middle.

• Divilly Brothers No Added Nitrite Crumbed Ham (90 g, batch 20163983, use by 4 Jun 2026) – contains undeclared wheat , posing a risk to anyone with coeliac disease or wheat allergy. Don’t eat it.

• Daylesford Organic Minestrone Soup (500 ml) – use‑by dates from 26 Apr to 24 May 2026 – recalled because the label doesn’t properly emphasise that it contains wheat.

🚨 Eating out shouldn’t be a game of Russian roulette. A recent UK petition highlighted that restaurants can label food “gluten‑free” even when it’s cooked alongside gluten‑containing foods, using shared fryers or utensils.

Cross‑contamination can make “gluten‑free” dishes unsafe for people with coeliac disease, yet the petition closed in May 2026 with only 142 signatures .

😡 This isn’t about being picky, for coeliacs even crumbs can cause harm.

Let’s renew the call to make “gluten‑free” on menus mean what it says: zero cross‑contamination.

Share this post, tag your favourite restaurants and call on the UK Government to strengthen the law.

The cheapest gluten‑free loaf in UK shops now costs over six times the price of a regular loaf. A small loaf of gluten‑free bread is approaching £4 and everyday staples like pasta and biscuits remain tiny and expensive.

Research from Coeliac UK shows that a weekly shop suitable for a strict gluten‑free diet can be 35 % more expensive. Nearly eight in ten people are struggling to afford these basics. It’s no wonder coeliacs are talking about a “gluten‑free tax”!

🤔 Have you felt the pinch? Tell us your biggest gluten‑free rip‑off and tag your supermarket. Let’s show policymakers and retailers that this diet is a medical necessity, not a luxury.

Fun fact: chocolate cake used to be considered a HEALTH food.

Yep. Back in the 1800s, doctors actually recommended chocolate for energy and strength. Honestly? We support that level of thinking.

Fast forward to 2026 and gluten free people are still being handed dry brownies and “it tastes better than it looks” desserts at parties.

Not here.

This one is rich, fudgy, properly chocolatey and 100% coeliac safe because nobody should feel like the afterthought at the cake table.

And let’s be honest… if chocolate cake has survived this long, it’s basically historical importance at this point. 🍫

The one where nobody gets left out. ❤️

Big celebration cakes are hard enough to find when you’re coeliac safe, never mind themed ones that actually taste as good as they look.

But we believe gluten free people deserve the fun cakes too. Not just the “fruit platter option” at parties. 😭
