🌟 Christmas Lights Switch On – an update 🌟
Firstly, thank you so much for all your support and feedback for the planned Christmas light switch on in Royston.
Behind the scenes, a very determined and very small team have been working hard to try to make this happen for Friday.
It has not been easy. We have hit some technical issues due to paperwork, permissions and licences, and at this time are still awaiting final electrical sign off to allow the lights to be switched on as we wish, on Friday 26th November at 4.30pm.
It was always our vision that this year would be a test event and allow us to pick out any issues with the view that next year we can do something bigger and better.
However, we can confirm that around the Roysia Stone / Cross area of Royston, there will be:
🌟 A gazebo offering mulled wine, mince pies and other goodies.
🌟 Reed Choir singing a few carols to get us all in the festive mood
Throughout the town:
🌟 A number of shops will be open late and eateries are open for you to enjoy and shop locally for Christmas
🌟 Shop windows have been painted and decorated by the fabulous Bespoke Signs
🌟 The lights are due to be switched on around 4.30pm and can be seen throughout the town, with the Mayor of Royston Mark Hughes due to switch them on at the Roysia Stone / Cross area of town
A few things to note:
🌟 Please remember to stay cautious, and safety is paramount for us all.
🌟 Firstly, do not stand in the roads, be aware that around the Cross area there isn’t a lot of pavement space, especially with pavement works going on this week. If indeed the lights do switch on, then these can be seen throughout much of the Town Centre.
🌟 Please also remember to follow the Government’s Covid-19 guidelines, maintain social distancing and wear a facemask where appropriate. You may also think about taking a lateral flow test before attending the event and please don’t attend if you have any symptoms.
We will keep you in touch on Friday 26th November, so do keep an eye on our socials for the latest updates
