💙 We’ve spent most of today reading through the comments and messages, and honestly, the support has been overwhelming. Even the difficult comments come from people who clearly cared about the venue and wanted it to succeed.
But we won’t lie — some of those comments have hurt. A lot.
Seeing words like “used and abused” or assumptions that we didn’t care about safety, the team or the community is genuinely heartbreaking when people don’t see what was happening behind closed doors or how much of ourselves we poured into trying to make this work.
We are genuine people. We have always led with our hearts, sometimes too much. We gave this venue everything we had emotionally, physically and financially because we truly believed the community deserved somewhere decent to go locally again.
We do want to say something from the heart about the people who stood beside us through all of this.
DJ Add Woodall and DJ Callum Crowley became far more than DJs to us — they became genuine friends. Real friends.
These lads backed us when things were difficult, supported us when numbers were low, and gave everything they had week after week to try and rebuild atmosphere, confidence and entertainment at The Knights Quest. They believed in what we were trying to create and never stopped giving their all. 🎶💙
What means even more to us personally is the way they accepted our son Jacob with open arms. They treated him with kindness, patience and genuine warmth from day one, and as parents that means more than words can ever explain. That kindness will stay with us forever.
We also want to thank Tracie, Richard Clarke, DJ Deano, Ben Lewis and all of the guest DJs and entertainers who supported us along the way. Every single one of you played a part in trying to bring life back into the venue.
A lot of people only see the busy nights, the packed dance floor, the videos and the smiles. What they don’t see are the weekdays where takings could sometimes be less than £60 for an entire day. They don’t see the stress of trying to keep a business afloat whilst also dealing with rising costs, ongoing incidents, violence and the pressure that comes with trying to keep everybody safe.
We’ve tried. And tried again.
But there comes a point where health has to come first. Both physically and mentally. When the stress, pressure and constant worry begin impacting your wellbeing and your family life, difficult decisions have to be made — no matter how heartbreaking they are.
We never wanted to let anybody down.
To everybody who supported us, danced with us, worked with us, performed for us or simply believed in what we were trying to do — thank you. Truly.
And to Add and Callum… thank you for your friendship, your loyalty, your belief in us and for standing beside us until the very end. We will never forget it. 💙
