No Spring Honey 😔😔
I know this isn't the news many of you were hoping to hear.
Although we're enjoying some lovely weather now, and we did have a hot spell a few weeks ago, overall our bees have had a difficult Spring. We got off to a promising start, with the colonies bringing in nectar and building up their honey stores.
Unfortunately, this was followed by a prolonged period of cold, wet and windy weather, coinciding with the peak flowering of the Hawthorn and R**e Seed flower.
Unable to forage for long periods, the bees had to rely on the honey they had already collected to feed themselves and their growing brood. As a result, much of the Spring honey they produced was consumed by the colonies rather than stored as surplus.
We have harvested a small amount of honey, but sadly not enough to offer for sale.
We're keeping our fingers crossed for a good Summer flow and hoping our August harvest will make up for what has been a disappointing Spring season.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and understanding.
