People often ask where the inspiration for my floral cupcake bouquets comes from… welcome to my happy place. 🌸

My garden. ❤️

This little patch of colour is my happy place.

Whether it’s the perfect layers of a dahlia, the soft blush of a hydrangea, the vibrant stripes on a petunia or the elegance of a lily, I’m constantly taking it all in. Every flower teaches me something about colour, shape, texture and reminds me that nature never creates two blooms exactly the same.

It’s probably no surprise that when I sit down with a piping bag, those flowers find their way onto my cupcakes.

But it’s not just flowers that I grow. My greenhouse is full of tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs, and tucked amongst the borders are edible flowers that often make their way onto my salads, grazing tables and signature canapés. I love stepping into the garden and picking the finishing touches just before a delivery or event.

I owe my love of both cooking and gardening to my wonderful mum and dad. I was incredibly lucky to grow up with a huge garden that was always full of beautiful flowers, fruit and home-grown vegetables, lovingly grown by them and so often picked fresh for our family table. Those are some of my happiest childhood memories, and looking back, I can see just how much they shaped the person I am today. Mum and Dad gave me a love of growing, cooking and creating from scratch, and I feel incredibly lucky that I get to bring all of those things together every single day in my business.

Gardening and cooking have so much in common. Both take patience, care, creativity and a lot of love. From growing ingredients to piping buttercream petals, there’s something incredibly satisfying about creating something beautiful from nature’s inspiration.

My garden fills my cup, sparks my creativity and reminds me every day why I love what I do. At the moment it’s absolutely bursting with hydrangeas and dahlias – two of my favourite flowers to recreate in buttercream. Every bouquet I pipe and every dish I create carries a little inspiration from the garden I grew up in and the one I’m so proud to nurture today.

So whether you’re enjoying one of my floral cupcake bouquets, a fresh summer salad or one of my canapés decorated with edible flowers, there’s every chance a little piece of my garden has found its way onto your table.

An early start this morning with an 8.30am breakfast delivery to Barton Court! ☀️🥐

Another corporate lunch out today… this time one of my Silver Packages 🖤

Fresh sandwiches, homemade savouries, crispy chicken, fruit and cake — all made this morning, packed up and delivered ready for lunch.

I know I’m biased, but if you’re ordering lunch in for your team it really doesn’t have to be boring 😅
No sad platters, no beige buffet, no curling clingfilm sandwiches that nobody actually wants… just fresh homemade food, plenty of choice and a lunch that actually feels like a treat.

Well… today didn’t quite go to plan! 🤣🍴🧁

I was happily mid-way through piping this 30-cupcake bouquet this morning when the phone rang.

It was a lovely regular customer calling to book next month’s catering orders, and during the conversation she casually asked…

“What time will lunch be arriving today? Will it come with the afternoon teas?” 😳

My heart nearly stopped! She’d booked afternoon tea for 8, but had also booked lunch for 10 for today too & I'd missed it !

So it was a quick 10am dash to the supermarket, a slight reshuffle of the morning, and plenty of fast thinking… but by 12 noon everything was freshly made, packed and delivered.

Today’s lunch was these gorgeous Greek chicken salad bowls with warm flatbread and homemade tzatziki, alongside a platter of freshly made sandwiches and the afternoon teas.

Thankfully it all worked out perfectly in the end, and that’s one very relieved caterer tonight! 😂

No matter what the day throws at me, I’ll always do everything I can to make it happen.

I genuinely think this has been the busiest 7 days in Caption Catering’s history… and that’s saying something! 🤪

Over the last 7 days we’ve catered:

🤍 Wednesday - Funeral catering
💍 Thursday - Wedding catering and TWO corporate lunches
🥂 Friday - Canapés for 150 guests
🎉 Saturday - Family party catering

When you write it down, it sounds slightly ridiculous!

Behind the scenes that’s meant days of shopping, baking, prep, menu planning, loading & unloading my car , setting up, serving, washing up and more hours in the kitchen than I care to count.

Thankfully the weather was kind to us because looking at this week’s forecast, I think we may have just squeezed through before the real heat arrived! ☀️🥵

Running a small catering business is never just about the food. It’s the early mornings, late nights, attention to detail, problem solving and making sure every single event gets the same care and attention whether it’s a lunch for 10 or canapés for 150.

Today is officially catch-up day!

The house looks like it’s been abandoned, the washing basket has developed its own postcode, and there are a hundred little jobs that have been ignored while I’ve been busy feeding everyone else. 😂

I might even make dinner for Harriet and Jeremy tonight. They were definitely a little neglected last week and, despite spending my life cooking for other people, cooking tea for my own family wasn’t exactly high on the agenda! 😆

A huge thank you to every customer who trusted us with their event this week. Your support means everything and allows me to keep doing a job I genuinely love.

Now, where did I leave that washing basket…? 🤔
