🌺🌼🌸 It’s Flower Festival weekend in Rolvenden! 🌸🌺🌹

We’re delighted to be supporting St Mary’s Rolvenden Flower Festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend, and we’ve got a special Festival Lunch menu running here at The Star.

From homemade veggie quiche and a proper Ploughman’s to ham, eggs and chips, chicken and bacon salad, our Cypriot meze platter and freshly made sandwiches, there’s plenty to choose from.

Even better, bring along your Flower Festival voucher and you’ll receive 10% off your total bill.

Pop into the church, enjoy the beautiful displays, music and everything happening around the village, then wander down to us for lunch and a well earned drink.

Well, that felt good... ❤️

On Sunday we held our first proper Star family and friends barbecue since before Covid, celebrating Danielle's birthday and Lynn's sister's very special 80th birthday.

And we had forgotten just how much we loved doing them.

The garden was full, the pub was full, the food kept coming and the atmosphere was just lovely.

'The Great Mates' were fantastic, playing brilliant covers that had everyone singing along and the children up dancing. Exactly the sort of afternoon we used to love having at The Star.

Good food, live music, families, friends, children playing in the garden and plenty of laughter. What more could you want?

We absolutely loved feeding everyone and seeing so many of you there. Thank you to every single person who came along and made the day what it was.

It felt really special to bring back one of our old Star traditions after all these years.

And judging by Sunday... we definitely shouldn't leave it so long until the next one!

A limited edition cask release bringing back one of Brighton’s best loved beers. Fresh and hoppy, with grapefruit, citrus and tropical fruit flavours and a proper bitter finish.
5.0% and £5.50 a pint.

We feel it is only right that as many of you as possible conduct some very thorough taste testing on our behalf.

Purely for research purposes, obviously.

PROUD PUB ALERT! ❤️

You all know our Chloe from behind the bar on a Friday night or serving up your Saturday morning breakfast… but today she has swapped pulling pints for collecting some rather brilliant A Level results!

A in Sociology
B in History

Absolutely smashed it! 🎉

Our super smart cookie is, quite rightly, over the moon and the whole Star family could not be prouder of her.

Although, as Lynn and Mick’s granddaughter and Danielle’s daughter, we suspect there may be one or two slightly proud family members making sure everybody hears about it today…

Huge congratulations Chloe. All that hard work paid off and you deserve every bit of it.

Morning all, we're off to an event today. After all the hard work of the World Cup - we're going OUT OUT!!

Well... what a World Cup that was. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽
We laughed, we shouted, we celebrated, we hid behind our pints and, yes... there may even have been a few tears.
Over the tournament we served more than 360 pints as part of our football offer and over 120 World Cup specials, proving once again that football and good pub food are a pretty decent match!
The Saka Burger (the burger formally know as Zayu burger) has officially earned its place on the menu and is here to stay.

There were superstitions galore. Lynn changed her lucky pants. The salt and pepper pots found their lucky position and were never to be moved again. Yvonne sat faithfully in her lucky seat. Nobody dared risk changing anything!
Jimmy even managed to buy an England shirt without the "G". We are still not quite sure how... or whether that was good luck all along! 😂

From our youngest football fan, aged just four, to our oldest at seventy four, it has been wonderful to see so many of you packing out The Star and creating an atmosphere we will remember for years to come.

A huge thank you to our Three Lionesses behind the bar, Amie, Danielle and Chloe, our early morning hero Finn, and every member of the team who kept the pints flowing, the food coming and the celebrations going.

To our neighbours... thank you (and sorry!) for the cheering, singing and the occasional eruption every time England found the back of the net. It only happens every four years...

Most importantly, thank you to every single one of you who chose to watch the football with us. You made this World Cup incredibly special. A proper family pub.

And finally... regardless of the outcome, we could not be prouder of this England team. Third in the world is an incredible achievement and they gave us memories that will last a lifetime.
