Camino Diary 🇪🇸🥾🚲 We’ve done it…
8 days.
81 miles walking.
112 miles cycling.
193 miles of the Camino.
And we’ve done it. ❤️
I’m not quite sure how I feel yet, other than very tired, rather sore and once again completely amazed by what my body can do.
It was hard at times. Really hard. We were warned it would be.
There were long stretches when the miles seemed endless. Hills that looked enormous before we started climbing them. Aching feet, aching legs and, latterly, very sore bottoms! 😂
There were moments when spirits dipped too. But that’s where the group came in.
Someone would make you laugh. Someone would offer encouragement. Food would be shared. We’d regroup at a café. Paul would invent a song and dance routine 😂… and somehow we’d all get going again.
That sense of community has been such a huge part of these eight days. Walking together, cycling together, occasionally separating and finding each other again. New friendships, old friendships, conversations that filled miles, and plenty of laughter.
And my Spanish has improved immensely! 🇪🇸 Although necessity is apparently a very good language teacher. 😂
There’s been yoga in there too, although not always on a mat. Breathing when something felt difficult. Moving an aching body at the end of a long day. Staying with something when my mind was telling me it was too hard.
One more breath in. One more breath out.
And keep going.
It’s amazing how much can happen in just eight days.
When we first started this journey in France two years ago, the goal was simply to conquer the Pyrenees. We never really imagined how far along the Camino we would eventually get.
And now conversations have started about whether we might actually continue…and finish it.
But that decision can wait.
Right now everything hurts, we’re exhausted, and I think we need a little time to let this adventure sink in.
For now…
193 miles. Two feet. Two wheels. Eight days. And some wonderful people to share it with.
What an adventure. ❤️🇪🇸
Buen Camino.
