It’s been a month since our last restaurant service, but what a month it’s been!

August has been bursting with weddings, events, and a few celebrations of life, and we feel so honoured to be a part of all of these very special events ❤️

Alongside this we’ve been focussing on our lovely overnight guests, and as expected with August, we’ve been fully booked almost every evening that we open (Weds-Sat).

So here’s to an equally fun, but maybe not quite as hectic September!

If you have not stayed at The Old Deanery yet, one of the most exciting parts of your stay is breakfast!

When we tell people there’s no menu and no buffet (meaning no decisions to be made!), some people look at us in trepidation…

Those same people are full of smiles and delight after experiencing our grazing style breakfast feast:

Sourdough, croissants, crumpets, cured meats, cheese, granola. Followed by a small plate of a “Deanery full English” 🥓

Last Friday, we served our final dinner at The Old Deanery.

We're so proud of everything the restaurant team achieved over the past few years. From earning Michelin Recommendation and 3 AA Rosettes to creating so many memorable evenings for our guests, none of it would have been possible without the amazing people in this photo.

To everyone who chose to spend an evening with us over the last couple of years... thank you for supporting us and for being part of this chapter of The Old Deanery.

Our doors are still very much open for hotel stays with breakfast from Wednesday to Saturday evenings, with hot and cold drinks available from 12 noon on Wednesday to 12 noon on Sundays.

We were excited to welcome some of the team from to The Old Deanery recently for a photoshoot in our gardens.

They chose us as the backdrop for their beautiful 1940s and 1950s-inspired replica fashion, photographed for the Twinwood and Goodwood festival campaigns.

The shoot came about through a lovely connection with one of our future wedding couples, and we're so glad they introduced us. We absolutely love how the finished images turned out!

Big news! After almost two and a half years, the fine dining restaurant at The Old Deanery will be doing its last service on Friday 31st July 2026.

We will continue to offer overnight stays, and host our lovely weddings and events - with weddings and events being where we started when we first took over the venue in 2021!

It has been an incredible few years, but the time has come to go back to our roots and focus on different areas of the business. Thank you to all our guests, past, present and future - what an amazing ride it has been!

Tables are still available between now and 31st July. Booked weddings and events will still go ahead as arranged.

Anybody with dinner reservations from 1st August onwards will be contacted in due course and any deposits paid will be refunded. Gift cards may still be used against overnight stays and breakfast, or they are also redeemable at our York site; Galtres Lodge hotel and Forest restaurant, or we will refund the original purchaser.
