VIP visitor to the cafe today as Al Steele from The Korgis came in for lunch ahead of their gig at Rayleigh Mill Hall, Rochford District Venues next month.

They are playing at The Mill on Saturday 26th September you can get your tickets here:

This was a fabulous night last year as well as playing some big songs from recent albums they will include classics such as 'If I Had You', 'Dumb Waiters' and ‘Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime'.
They also include elements from the Time Machine Show, with songs from our past liaisons with Peter Gabriel, Tears for Fears and Trevor Horn.

Was a tough listen last night but things are looking up..

Last nights meeting was a hard slog, but virtually everything got through unanimously following most reports having to be amended during the meeting!

The key take aways from my point of view;

🍽️ The operation of The Mill Cafe and the Bars will stay with Eternity Events Essex and their licences will be reviewed accordingly!

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Three new Task & Finish groups have had to be set up to progress work on Assets. This feels like a step backwards given that so much has been done and consulted on over the last few years - but I accept they will provide a space to discuss back up plans if for any reason the current ones don’t progress.

⏱️ Time is against us because of LGR so we really must be making decisions rather than going back over old ground.

💷 Due to a well managed Council last year, as well as windfalls, and a not so successful recruitment drive - there is significant money moving into reserves which can be allocated to projects - this could support some of the asset discussions we are going to have.

🔨 Construction works are on track for a September completion at the Freight House, but agreeing an operator remains unconfirmed with two suitable parties still in the pipeline. Urgent conversations are over due to look at potential working arrangements to ensure the asset reaches its potential for the community and the interested parties - Rochford Parish Council, East Essex Hackspace and The Design Cabin Community C.I.C

It felt like very little had progressed since the March meeting - but I genuinely believe all groups are keen to bring the works started in the previous two years to conclusion ASAP 🤞
