This is a quick message from andy, (lynnes husband/and favourite business partner๐)
So unfortunately the day has come on Friday to say goodbye to my mum, (Marilyn dobson) I lost her a couple of weeks ago to dementia.
For those that don't know of her, she's worked in hospitality most of her life, and when I was young she moved to the island,
She ran a variety of cafes, pubs, restaurants including mollys kitchen, Liverpool arms, niarbyl, the sound, cregneash, the Grove and the bay room at the manx museum, some of which all at the same time, She was an inspiration to me, and what she has contributed to the hospitality trade over here during her time here on the island.
When I came over here at possibly the lowest point in my life with nothing, I rocked up at the Liverpool arms to stay with her and my sister.
And that's when i met lynne! Who worked for my mum at the LA! and now she is my wife of 15 years!!
My mum wasn't really present when I was young, but I can thank her for one thing!
And that is lynne....
And what we have achieved over the time we have been together, now with our own 2 cafes with a total of 14 staff!
The last 6 months have been hard for me while this has been going on, and I've made mistakes, business wise and mentally for myself, we all moan about the health service but its actually been there for me, and pulled me through, And lynne has been by my side and supported me through it all!
I'm on the mend, feeling better and focused on the future for our cafes! And maybe even a holiday after the summer has passed, as we have make hay while the sun shines, to see us through over the winter!
We're not perfect, I don't think any business in the world is?
But we will continue to give it our all everyday as we continue to succeed....
It's a hard game to be in, as anyone knows in the hospitality trade..
So unfortunately kitchen will be closed at brunch on Friday while we say our goodbyes.
Ellie will be serving coffee with her nice new shiny coffee machine and cakes will be on sale as normal,
We will be back fully open on Saturday at 9am! As those bills unfortunately don't wait for anyone or what's going on behind the scenes In life!
Love you mum โค๏ธ and what you did for hospitality and thankyou to all our customers who support us daily through thick and thin!!
And of course our loyal staff who put up with us ๐
And our children! who have to listen to us talking about work all the time too!
Andy xx
