Budweiser Budvar 🍺
Brewed in České Budějovice in the Czech Republic, Budvar is a Czech premium pilsner that’s golden, crisp, smooth and seriously refreshing.
Not to be confused with Budweiser USA…
Despite the similarities in name, Budweiser Budvar and Budweiser USA are completely different breweries that have been locked in a legal dispute for well over a century over the rights to the Budweiser name.
Budweiser USA was first brewed in 1876 by Anheuser-Busch, with the Czech Budweiser claiming to have been brewing its b**r since the 13th century.
Adding to that, Budweis is the German name for the city of České Budějovice, where Budweiser Budvar is brewed. So, we are firmly Team Czech when it comes to the right to the name. 🇨🇿
We have always prided ourselves on importing la**rs brewed at source, rather than those brewed under licence in the UK. Best of all, our supply comes straight from the brewery in České Budějovice, so you’re drinking Budvar exactly as it was intended.
