🔥 Well… looks like we’ve officially joined the Pudsey Bin Burnout Club. 🔥
Unfortunately, our café has become the latest victim of the ongoing bin fires around Pudsey. Because apparently setting fire to commercial bins is how some people choose to spend their evenings now… 🙃
You do have to wonder how long this is going to carry on for before something is actually done.
It might look like “just a bin”, but the reality for a small business is slightly different:
🗑️ Replacement commercial bin around £200
🚛 Potentially 2 weeks without our normal bin ,roughly £70 per collection to make alternative arrangements
📋 Insurance claim… admin, excess and no doubt another reason for the premium to creep up next year
🔥 Chances of the replacement bin getting the same treatment… judging by recent events, probably higher than we’d like!
So someone gets a few minutes of entertainment, while a local business gets the bill, the hassle and a lovely melted wheelie-bin sculpture outside the café.
Seriously though, it’s getting ridiculous. We know we’re far from the only business or resident in Pudsey this has happened to recently. Hopefully whoever is responsible gets bored before there are more serious consequences, because bins can be replaced; buildings and people are a different matter. But least we got a crime reference number though 😬
Anyway, we’re still open as normal. The coffee is hot enough without anyone setting fire to anything else. ☕🔥
