Yesterday, an influencer visited our restaurant and posted a simple video review.
Within less than 12 hours, it had already reached over 102,000 views, generated huge engagement, and brought attention to a small independent business doing what we’ve always done: serving food, welcoming customers, and working hard.
But, instead of becoming a positive story about hospitality, community, and small business support, the comment section quickly descended into something far darker.
The video sadly became politicised.
Abuse followed in an obscene amount.
Calls for boycott followed.
Sadly pressure escalated to the point that the influencer ultimately felt forced to remove the video entirely.
Let that sink in for a moment. In 2026 this can happen!
A 100% English business.
In England.
Being publicly targeted simply because it is perceived to be Israeli/Jewish connected.
Not because of bad service.
Not because of poor food.
Not because of misconduct.
But purely because of identity and association.
Whatever your political views may be, when ordinary businesses and ordinary people become targets for intimidation, harassment, and coordinated hostility, society is entering very dangerous unchartered territory.
This should concern everyone — regardless of religion, ethnicity, or politics!
We cannot normalise a climate where restaurant owners, staff, influencers, or customers feel fearful simply for walking through a door, filming a meal, or existing openly. It is simply not ok.
This is not “activism.”
This is not “accountability.”
When people are singled out because of who they are perceived to be, history teaches us exactly where that road can lead if society stays silent.
A very sad and deeply uncomfortable moment for England in 2026.
Small businesses should not have to operate in fear.
