This comp ends at the end of August so all drawing sheets need to be dropped into the butchers G.Rowles Butchers and Delicatessen or at the longridge canteen 🧑🏼‍🎨🎨

I am also hosting another craft class to design monsters on the 24th so message me if your little one would like to join one of them!!!

This is a charity event and the money is going half to the brownie hut and half to the charity called headway.

Don’t forget to join in, even if the design isn’t selected for a shop window, it will be up in the Longridge library window (they have kindly let me use their space) ❤️

Well… THAT was a bookclub! ❤️📚

Tonight we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Northern Boy author Iqbal Hussain to The Granary and what a fantastic evening it was!

We’d gone armed with our questions, but Iqbal was so lovely, open and easy to chat to that the conversation just went everywhere! So many of us had stories and connections with Blackburn, whether living or working there, and before we knew it we were all completely engrossed… so much so that I nearly ruined the bloody tea! 🤣🤣

Luckily I remembered just in time 😂 and we tucked into cheese & onion pie followed by apple crumble, ice cream AND cream — well, it is bookclub after all!

We also got chatting about Iqbal’s new children’s book, The Night I Borrowed Time, aimed at 8–12 year olds. Are we 8–12? Absolutely not. 😂 Are we going to read it anyway? ABSOLUTELY! It’s gone straight onto the Sunny Wheel for a future bookclub pick. 📚☀️

Iqbal, you were an absolute delight. Thank you for giving us your time, answering all our questions and sharing so many stories with us. It made Northern Boy come alive in a completely different way and I think we could have happily sat there chatting for another couple of hours. ❤️

And now our lovely author is tucked up for the night in our Swallows Nest shepherd’s hut — what better way to finish a Northern evening! 🥰

This is exactly why I love our bookclubs. Books bring people together, but it’s the conversations, laughter and people you meet along the way that make them really special. ❤️📚

Another crazy week at The Lovely Cow Shed! ❤️

I know it’s that time of year and we’re always busy busy, but lately you lot have been absolutely blinking brilliant with your shares, tags and recommendations on local pages. Honestly, THANK YOU — so many of our bookings come from word of mouth and it really does mean everything to a little business like mine. 🥰

So this week I wanted to give a big shout-out to some of my fabulous suppliers, because without them my buffets simply wouldn’t be what they are… blinking tasty AND beautiful! 😂❤️

I have tasted my fair share of pork pies (hard job but someone had to do it 🤣) and in Garstang came out on top. Then there’s for those gorgeous sausage rolls — we cook them fresh on the day of your function — and we also get our beef, chicken and ham from Jo, who is definitely a woman after my own heart! ❤️

Berry Lane Bakery supply those lovely little mini buns you see piled high on our buffets, and Thomas Moss keeps us stocked with our veg. 🥕🥒🍅

They’re local businesses supplying great produce, and that’s really important to us. Farm to fork isn’t just a nice saying — it’s part of the ethos behind The Lovely Cow Shed and something I want to keep doing as we grow. 🚜❤️

And remember, our menus are never set in stone. If there’s something you really want for your celebration and you can’t see it on the menu, ASK ME! We’re here to make the food fit YOUR celebration, not the other way round.

And lastly, a massive shout-out to the lovely people who jump in and work alongside me when I need an extra pair of hands (or six! 🤣). I genuinely couldn’t have got through this week without you. ❤️

Now… can someone remind me what a day off looks like?! 😂😂 Beds changed ready for next guests and I’m going out for a late lunch Cartford Inn I can’t wait!!!!

Oh my… what a night! ❤️📚

I’d been on my feet all day in the heat, so by the time book club came round I was absolutely shattered. To top it off, it was my first time hosting this new group on my own, so I was a little bit nervous.

Well… I needn’t have worried! What an incredible bunch of ladies. We all got on like a house on fire and the conversation just flowed all evening. 🥰

This month’s book was Daisy Jones & The Six, and it scored a brilliant 4/5. It gave us so much to chat about, and when I asked everyone which character they’d most like to go for a drink with, it definitely wasn’t Billy… it was Graham! 😂

The bit that really filled my heart though was when we all introduced ourselves. Several ladies said they’d been waiting for a space at one of my book clubs for such a long time and were so excited to finally come along. Honestly… that meant the world to me. Maybe I am doing something right after all. ❤️

Next month’s read is One Perfect Summer by Paige Toon. I can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks.

Well… what a week! 🤣

Pearl’s beautiful wake on Thursday, followed by a lovely evening crafting with India. There’s something so calming about getting creative after an emotional day, and we even learnt all about the wonderful uses of nettles and mugwort. 🌿💚

Friday was Sam’s fabulous pop-up shop, Saturday was packed with salads, ploughman’s lunches and a hen party, and Sunday we catered for a christening… all while both our shepherd huts were full all weekend! ❤️

Crikey… I need a holiday! 🤣 Although I’m trying to organise one of those too, so my brain is officially frazzled! 🤯😂

The best way to end such a busy week was spending time with my gorgeous grandson. Monster drawing, lots of giggles and making memories… just what Nana needed. ❤️

And of course, no Sunday is complete without calling in at Fellside Coffee to see Rick for a catch-up and one of his gorgeous coffees and cakes. ☕🍰 It’s become a bit of a tradition!

Pearl, you were clearly loved by so many. ❤️

The wonderful turnout for your funeral today, on such a beautiful sunny day, was a true reflection of the life you lived and the people whose hearts you touched.

I hope everyone raised a little dram of whisky in your honour – it was obviously one of your favourites. 🥃

The memory boards were absolutely beautiful and told the story of a life well lived, full of love, family and precious memories.

Thank you for choosing The Lovely Cow Shed to provide the food for your family and friends. It was an honour to be part of such a special celebration of Pearl’s life, and we hope everyone enjoyed the buffet.

After a very early start, I think we’d earned a little treat… a delicious matcha from the lovely &thebean! 💚
