Pastiera Napoletana is a traditional,sweet Easter pie originated from Naples.
It has a beautiful fragrant filling made with wheat berries, ricotta, candied citrus fruit, orange blossom water and cinnamon.
Why the seven strips of pastry on the top?
Well , a popular historical explanation is that the lattice represents the street plan of ancient Naples, the three Decumani and the four Cardini.
