FRIDAY LATES 👉 tomorrow evening 21/08

For this week I’m cooking up the following specials:

🌿Sticky harissa & apricot chicken thigh, tahini yoghurt
🌿 Crispy crushed new potatoes, whipped feta, hot honey
🌿 smoky chickpeas, harissa oil, garlic aioli
🌿 Tiramisu

They’ll be served alongside our usual Friday Lates small plates menu…. which you can swipe through and have a nose at 🕵️.

Open as usual from 8:30am with our normal menus and service then small plates from 2:30pm.

Kitchen closes at 7:30pm and we’re open until 8pm.

Good food, lovely wine, cocktails and a table full of plates = Friday early dinner, sorted. 🔥🔥🔥

WINE WEDNESDAYS 🍷

For 13 years, Southsea Coffee has been very firmly associated with coffee. (I mean, the name alone makes it KINDA obvious 😂)

Which, to be fair, is exactly what we wanted.

Since Martyn and I started the shop we’ve spent over a decade banging on about coffee… but these days there’s rather more going on here within our day to day and week to week offer.

We’ve got Friday Lates, small plates and a wine list put together with our friends at Camber Wines 👉 from a zesty New Zealand Sauvignon (which goes SO brilliantly with our pad Thai salad) to a juicy Gamay from Beaujolais that I like served slightly chilled.

Our wine list is small, succinct and will change with the seasons.

The slight issue is that after 13 years of talking almost exclusively about coffee, I probably need to remind you that we do now actually sell the other good stuff.

So, Wine Wednesdays.

Every Wednesday from TOMORROW and throughout September, order any main dish from our Lunch or Classics menu and we’ll pour you a 125ml glass of our Wednesday wine, ON US.

Just a little midweek treat.

Good food, lovely wine, cake if required, and perhaps the beginning of us convincing you that Southsea Coffee isn’t JUST very good at coffee.

Wine Wednesdays 👉 every Wednesday from now and throughout September 🍷

WE are loving our new extended hours on Fridays… and so are you 💪💪.

Thank you to everyone who’s been the last few weeks.

If you don’t already know.

We now have a licence and a small but mighty list of delicious wines, spritz’s and other drinks including (obvs) espresso martinis.

These are available every day but on Fridays we also stay open later for small plates, wine, cocktails and an early start to your weekend.

This week’s Friday lates specials:

Chorizo with butter beans & red wine, garlic aioli

Potato tortilla with lemony herby salad

Lemon posset with summer berries + shortbread

They’ll be served alongside our usual small plates menu from 2:30pm.

New coffees on the bar and retail drop from Zennor.

Guest espresso:

Lalesa anaerobic natural - Ethiopia.
Roasted by Campbell and Syme this heirloom from Ethiopia is fruity. Think super sweet blueberry and ripe pineapple.

Pour-overs.

Another iteration of Lalesa.
This time a red honey process roasted by Zennor.
Cherry, Strawberry and Citrus notes.

Finca Anaya - Colombia
Anaerobic natural roasted by Zennor.
Tropical fruit, peach drops, syrupy.

Plus a wider range of beans for home on the counter.

A few tables already booked (thanks gang!) but there’s still space to join us for small plates, wine, cocktails and an early Friday dinner.

This week’s specials:

Moroccan lamb meatballs with spicy tomato sauce and garlic yoghurt

Green tabbouleh with cucumber, mint, pomegranate and toasted almonds

Blackberry & vanilla cream semifreddo

They’ll be served alongside our usual small plates menu from 2:30pm.

Bookings are available between 5pm and 7:15pm, with some tables kept aside for walk-ins.

Open straight through from 8:30am until 8pm.
Kitchen closes at 7:30pm.

Come for an espresso martini. Stay for dinner.
