Amanda’s local finds are taking us a little further around Skye…

This time, to Loch Shianta (also often written as Loch Sheanta), a small freshwater loch in the north of the island with a fascinating story attached to it.🧚‍♀️

Beside the loch is Tobar Loch Shianta, a holy well that was historically regarded as the most celebrated healing well on Skye. For centuries, people visited the spring believing its water had healing properties, with old accounts also recording some of the rituals and traditions associated with a visit.

As with all of our local finds, please visit respectfully and leave this special place exactly as you found it.

Locals wh**ky, great beers, and a friendly atmosphere.
But don’t just take our word for it. One of our latest Google reviews highlighted how knowledgeable our bar team was - “he took time to understand my preferences and recommend whiskies that suited my taste perfectly’l

and have landed together, so naturally we're celebrating both.

Coffee and avocado toast covers both rather well, don't you think?

Thinking about a festive few days on Skye this year? 🎄

We’re already taking reservations for stays throughout the festive season at The Bosville, giving you the chance to enjoy Portree and the island at a much quieter time of year.

Think winter walks, evenings back in Portree, dinner at Dulse & Brose and a few days away before or after the Christmas rush.

We will close for a couple of days over Christmas itself to give our team a well-deserved break, but there’s plenty of availability around the wider festive period. Secure your stay now: https://perlehotels.pulse.ly/mil6dfyc4s

You’ve probably crossed it on your way to Skye. But do you know why the Skye Bridge was once so controversial?

The bridge opened in October 1995, replacing the ferry between Kyle of Lochalsh and Kyleakin and creating a permanent road connection between Skye and the mainland.

But crossing it originally came at a cost!

The bridge was built as a toll bridge, and the charges became deeply unpopular locally, leading to years of protests and a campaign against the tolls. Almost a decade after the bridge opened, it was bought by the Scottish Government and the tolls were finally removed in December 2004.

So today, crossing the Skye Bridge might feel like a simple part of the journey, but you’re passing over a chapter of the island’s history: the fight to make Skye freely accessible.

Today is , so we’re celebrating the people behind it. 💛

For us, hospitality is the welcome when you arrive, the room that’s been carefully prepared, the food and drink served, the local advice shared, and all the work that goes on behind the scenes to make a stay run smoothly.

And behind all of that are people/ So today, we’re sharing just a few of the faces from our team that we’ve managed to catch on camera recently:

🌊 Amanda, part of the Bosville team and someone you may already recognise from our recent videos.
🌊 Dragan, our Bar Manager, who has just celebrated five years with Perle Hotels.

🌊 Raul, our Cluster Accommodation Manager across our Skye hotels, alongside Maria, who is part of our Housekeeping team.
🌊 And Chris, General Manager of our Skye hotels, pictured on a recent visit to Portree Nursery to present a donation from the Perle Hotels

Of course, there are plenty more people working across Bosville and behind the scenes who we simply haven’t managed to catch on camera yet.
