Hello from Portloe....right now basking in hot glorious sunshine.
The Pop-up teashop has literally been that....a Popup albeit a successful little watering hole.
However, we are hanging up our aprons for the foreseeable future but would like to thank ALL those who stopped off, came by, floated through our open doors at Portloe United Church...our premises! It's been a joyful experience for us and we hope for you too. When I think of the number of people we have met...it is astounding. I never thought a dream could be realised with such gusto and enthusiasm. So 'dare to dream' ....that is my message.
Ofcourse, there is always a 'but' isn't there and mine is.....you can buy my homemade Cornish pasties at Veryan Market (full of homemade goodies, preserves and craft) ...open to all on the first Saturday of each month from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Thanks to all who made Portloe Popup Teashop a success....maybe I will see you at Veryan Market... (see the website)

Carol....special thanks to First Mates...Sue, Julia and Lin...it was yours as well as mine. X
There are many charming little places to eat around here....Melinsy Mill, Everley House, De Bara... all there to be discovered.x

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE WE HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING THIS PAST SEASON. THANKS FOR 'BEING HERE!' I not sure where the time goes as the weeks tumble into one....and then it's Christmas!
As many of you know, Portloe is only a step off the very beautiful Coastal Path...stunning us whatever the Season and its great to live against such a wondrous backdrop.

Maybe we will meet again in the future but in the meantime Peace to all this Christmas.
Bye for now, thanks again.....

What a glorious weekend it's been. We are having a bit of soft shoe shuffle....for the rest of the Season, food will be available from Corfingle for taking away. It's not difficult to eat alfresco here, there are quite a few 'hot spots' around and they were certainly put to good use yesterday.
We rub shoulders with idyllic Portholland, Carne beach, Portscatho and St Mawes. All in all, it's a wonderful and unforgettable experience discovering or revisiting the Roseland Peninsula.
Following on the heels of yesterday, today looks set to be warm and golden......wonderful!

What a fab Whit week...so much mellow yellow from a hot sun. Visitors were blessed and it is continuing on, the feel good factor we needed! It's been a surprisingly busy/buzzy few days at the teashop. Honestly I must make a few notes, it would be good to instigate some kind of record or journal....we've met a few inspiring people this week, one lady was telling us about her Dad who was an evacuee at Portloe during the war. He arrived here at the age of 7, while his 2 older sisters were placed with families in Plymouth...eek, what a brave little soldier already! He is now in his 80s and apparently has spent many holidays here or nearby with his own family. Quite a touching little tale.
Ofcourse there are many walkers stopping off on their coastal trek...this little village is probably a welcome watering hole, and together with the addition of the visitors in situ who like to pop in, catch up and watch the world go by...we have a real interesting time at work!
We were encouraged to open this Whit week which is I think is a first and we all enjoyed it...thanks to those who actually did make that happen.

In a few weeks we'll be back again for more of the same....in the meantime, in between time have fun!

14/05/2016

Portloe Popup will be open on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May at 11.00am til 4.00pm as well as the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (same times)....
Homemade pasties will be on sale as well a selection of tempting tasties! We're committed to 'homemade' everything......little troopers that we are!

It's was a treat to have such a beautiful day yesterday, fingers crossed for more of the same for the Whitsun week.

Hope to see you.........

Hi to everyone out there.
Well there is no doubt that 2015 is rapidly slipping away on the heels of a brand new year. I don't know about you but I'm really looking forward to fresh beginnings in 2016.
At least we can, if we want, look back and remember the unforgettable times we have shared this past year creating real bench marks. Only this month Sue who was with me at Popup on our maiden outing..... married a true gent, Bill, so that is one very happy occasion I will remember as we say farewell to 2015. Happy Days!
For me though, I'm looking forward to a New Year.....good health and happiness to us all...let the music commence!

Hope we have the opportunity to meet up again and enjoy hearing your news....I may not always remember a name but I'm not bad on 'faces.'

It's Christmas week!

Just taken a few pictures on this very grey day (only the one shade). We all congregated in the little Church for the Carol service last evening. Always a winner with mulled wine, mince pies and Annie Guys homemade Turkish delights and Rum Truffles. Canon Doug Robins always value for money set the scene for a successful evening 'with bells on.'

If you enjoyed your Popup top-up this year we are doing it all again in 2016...and if catching up, enjoying tasty homemade food and having a chuckle is your 'bag' then we are the real deal. In other words, we enjoy a bit of cooking, meeting and greeting but nothing too corporate!

Needless to say Portloe is still unspoilt and will hopefully remain so....its part of the appeal as well as being 'home.'

I'd like to say MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you from the three of us. Carol, Julia and Lin.x

Hello. It's pretty wintry here today and the forecast for the week ahead is not very exciting. In view of that Popup will be closed this half term.
It's been a good Season with familiar faces and new acquaintances....brilliant for us and for the village too.

'Thank you' seems inappropriate, it should be a much bigger word with a much bigger meaning....but thank you very much for your custom and compliments. The icing on the cake!

With the clocks changing Christmas now looms large and with that in mind we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2016!

Look forward to further 'munchkins' from mid June onwards.

Thanks again from all at Popup.x
