PRESTIGIOUS POWERBOAT RACING THIS SUNDAY…

This Sunday sees the return of one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious powerboat races: the legendary Cowes–Torquay–Cowes.

If you’re looking for something spectacular to watch on Sunday morning, Portland Bill could be the place to be—but please keep well back from cliff edges and follow any local safety advice.

First held in 1961, this incredible 200-mile endurance race pits crews and machines against the weather and sea. With some boats producing more than 2,000 hp and reaching speeds of over 100 mph, it promises to be a spectacular sight!

The boats are expected to leave the Cowes start line between 9am and 10am before heading towards Bournemouth, Portland Bill and across Lyme Bay to Torquay—then racing all the way back again.

Weather permitting, we hope to see the leading boats passing Portland Bill Lighthouse at around 11am.

The forecast is currently looking challenging, with strong winds and large swells possible.

Dear Evening Visitors to Portland Bill

We have 4 bins located around our building, there are 2 bins located in the Car Park. If the first bin you try is full can you please try another one. This morning we arrived at work to find one of our bins completely full of fish and chip wrappers and Starbucks cups!! (Not our rubbish) This was spilling out all over the place, the next bin is 7 steps away! Empty!! Perhaps some common sense is needed
