The story of Café Chloé

Ever since I was a little girl, I was passionate about baking. My Mum owns Café Vic-Ryn in Lisburn and has done since I was aged 8, and so growing up, baking became a way of life for me. As my Mum baked, I stood on a stool beside her and watched intently. I think this is where the seed was planted... and the talent to be able to create sweet artisan treats without a recipe developed.

As soon as I left school at 16, I went to work for Mum in Café Vic-Ryn. I started out working on the counter, dealing with customers and making coffee. A short while later, I started working as an apprentice baker within the business. There were three of us in the bakery department at that time, and I started the learn the ropes... starting with prepping the ingredients. Eight years later I was producing all of the scones, desserts, cakes and everything in between. I have also had a home based celebration cake business (Cakes by Chlo) for a number of years too, and have a level 2 diploma in cake decorating, as well as being trained for two years by one of the best cake decorators in NI.

What I love most about what I do? I love to see people’s reaction when they first see the desserts I create... and even more so when they taste them.

This project has been in planning for over 18 months (when we were originally approached to gauge our interest in opening this Café) - after some reflection and contemplation I decided that this was my time and I have been so excited to announce this to all of you. I cannot wait to meet you all and welcome you to Café Chloé. We are based within Sitara Morgan on West Street in the centre of Portadown and I hope that I have created an experience which is just a little bit special, with a modern and luxurious feel with beautiful artisan food on offer.
