Soak in the coastal tranquility of Cruden Bay beach 📸

Cruden Bay beach is a scenic, 2 mile long expanse of golden pink sand located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, about 23 miles north of Aberdeen. The beach is positioned between Port Erroll harbour and the Scares near Whinnyfold. It is a wide crescent of sand backed by extensive sand dunes and dramatic coastal cliffs. It can be reached on foot from Harbour Street by crossing the historic, community owned wooden Ladies Bridge over the Water of Cruden. The area is completely dog friendly with no seasonal restrictions all year round. The water quality is good, being designated as bathing water and is monitored by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency with real time quality signage during the summer season. Cruden Bay beach is popular for walking, swimming, surfing, kite surfing, sea fishing, and canoeing, and is also a very popular spot for campervans and motorhomes. It is overlooked by the 16th century ruins of Slains Castle, which is noted as an inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula, and adjacent to the world renowned Cruden Bay Golf Course. Interestingly, it is famous for being the landing site of Norwegian aviator Tryggve Gran, who achieved the first solo flight across the North Sea in 1914.
