The hospitality sector has come together to launch – a united campaign and petition calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.

Spearheaded by chef and publican Tom Kerridge, we’re working alongside trade bodies across the sector, such as and , hospitality communities like , and you, businesses across hospitality, to say 10% VAT is fair for hospitality.

Our sector pays too much tax, and VAT is the single biggest lever the Government can pull to support venues, our customers, our high streets and our local communities.

This campaign is for everyone: businesses, customers, waiting staff, chefs, kitchen porters, bar staff, hotel teams, farmers, brewers, suppliers and producers.

Great news for Porlock! 💜💸
A National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £1.4million has been secured by St Dubricius Church to save its rare oak-built spire. Which is wonderful news, as the church and it's spire is so historically significant!

Its thought that Porlock has had a church since the Saxon period, but a more permanent church was built in the 12th or 13th Century - the latter being when the church's tower was constructed, along with the wooden framework of the spire. The spire is Grade 1 listed and retains its wooden skeleton to this day, with the last refurbishment of its oak shingles happening in 1933.

It’s understood the money and project will now repair the spire, re-slate sections of the roof and conserve important historic features.

Well done to everyone at the church, and the wider community, for securing such a huge amount of money. I wonder if the money can put a tip back on the spire? 😉

As if that wasn't enough excitement it's Allerford Open Gardens this weekend. Gardens are open 12-5 on both days. FREE parking and £5 entry tickets are available at Allerford Village Hall.
