Ooops, it's been a while since we said hello! We may have not been on facebook, but we have been busy fundraising for the Highland Hospice at the Poolewe Tuesday Market and wanted to let you know about another event we have coming up - our table top sale/indoor car boot/collectable & curios sale/jumble sale call it what you may! We will be hosting a sale at the Poolewe Village Hall on the 22nd of August. Along with a stall of items being sold for the hospice and we are inviting others to have stalls, so if you've been meaning to have a clear out now's your chance! We will also happily accept donations of items for our stall if you want rid of some stuff, but don't want to have a stall yourself. Connie and her team will be running a cafe at the sale with hot drinks, bacon rolls, soup, scones and cakes, so you won't want to miss that and the opportunity to find some treasures on the stalls! If you are interested in a stall yourself, send us a message or contact Alison on 07900602765 / [email protected]
So back to what we have already done this year - we have banked a fabulous £3292 for the Highland Hopsice. This money was raised mainly on Connie's stall at the market, but also from Connie's jam sales at Poolewe Village Store & Post Office. Big thanks to Clare & John at the shop for their support and also to Pete for his donations of Marmalade and fruit, Anton at Krockewe Arts & Crafts Shop for items he made for us to sell, young Sophie for the donations she has made from selling her handmade bracelets, Stephen for making bacon rolls for the stallholders and donating the profits, Carol for her help on the stall and the many others to help us with our fundraising efforts!
We do hope you can come support us on the 22nd of August.
Thank you all

Connie had a great time back in the kitchen at the Poolewe Christmas Markets. Across the markets we raised £1566.80, from the cafes, tombola, jam sales and other fundraising. Thank you to everyone who supported us and a special thank you to all those who baked, helped in the kitchen, or on the tombola stall, we couldn't do it without you all. We're still adding to our 2025 fundraising and you can buy Connie's jam at the Button Bothy , Farm & Garden Store/Gairloch Farm Shop and Poolewe Village Store & Post Office to help us and the Highland Hospice Christmas cards and calendars are on sale at the Button Bothy along with other fundraising items including Jan Lawrie's fabulous creations. So don't delay and get those cards bought and in the post!

Please take a moment and vote for local lad Joshua. He has been working at Radio Wester Ross for a number of years now.

Joshua was born and grew up in the Highlands, attending Poolewe Primary and Gairloch High School. What you may not know, is that Joshua has also been presenting five shows a week as the drive time presenter on Now Radio for two years, helping to set up and establish a new community radio station and freelancing as a presenter on other Scottish stations for some time.

Earlier this year he entered the International Radio Star Competition, (think X Factor for Radio DJs). Joshua was the only Scottish entrant to get through to the final 20 contestants of this international competition. Since then, he has been leading the pack as they work their way through a series of recording challenges. As we approach the final week of the competition Joshua is still in first place, by just 10 points. He has done the Highlands and Scotland SO proud with everything he has achieved so far.....

However, this year the judges have decided to put the competition out to a public vote. Given that Josh is up against some already established national radio presenters, with a larger group of online followers, he could stand to lose out at the final hurdle, despite winning on judges' scores. This is really now just a competition about how many online votes the contestants get.

Please, please would you consider getting behind our local star and supporting him, by voting for him as International Radio Star 2025! Let's support Joshua to win this for Scotland.
