Final call-out to everyone who has supported me and the team at The Carpenters Arms: Coed-y-paen, Pontypool ❤️

Thank you for the memories, the laughter, the music, the friendships, and the countless good times.

In particular, I can not thank the staff who been with me and supported me every step of the way over the last 10 years, you are some of the best in the business, and I will always been truly grateful of not just your support but also your friendship.

My family, friends, the regulars who have become friends, visitors and all the entertainers including Jim Ramsey, Three o' clock clubExperience The BeatlesDonna SamuelThe Flower Den Adam Luke Thomas, to mention just a few, you all helped make The Carpenters Arms and my time
at the Ponthir House more than just a pub… you made it a community.

I’ll always be grateful for the moments that have been shared and the support shown along the way.

Big thank you to everyone who joined us last night to say Goodbye 2025 and hello 2026! Hope everyone has a happy and more importantly a healthy new year.

Well the time has come to put up a post that I had no thought or intention of doing 20 months ago.

Very sadly I have made the very difficult decision to close our doors for the last time after the celebrations of seeing in the New Year at the Carpenters Arms.

I came here 20 months ago after 10 years at the Ponthir House with the enthusiasm to make it into a great pub/home for food , drinks and events but very sadly due to recently suffering a double stroke I no longer have the enthusiasm and physical capabilities to give this beautiful pub what it deserves to succeed for years to come .

Those that have known me for many years from working in the Bull /Drovers to eventually being landlord of the PH have seen the joy it brought me being behind the bar, it was my stage to be myself.

It’s now time for a new chapter, a fresh start with as little stress as possible.

Of course I couldn’t have done it without all the support of our customers, amazing staff, friends, my family and the landlords that gave me my taste of pub life.

I will do a more personal thank you in the coming weeks but for now OUR DOORS ARE STILL OPEN so please come and enjoy some beer and food with us and hope to see as many of you as possible on New Year’s Eve.
