🚐💙 WE’RE BACK! 💙🚐
Our little escape is officially over and we’re back in Devon, suitably refreshed, slightly reluctant to unpack… and ready to get back behind the counter tomorrow 😂☕🥓
The Farmyard Café will be OPEN again tomorrow as usual.
A huge thank you to everyone for your lovely messages, your patience while we took a few days off, and most of all for continuing to support our little café. It genuinely means the world to us and is the reason we’re able to keep doing what we do. ❤️
So… holiday mode OFF, aprons back ON, and we’ll see you tomorrow! 😂

Steve and I have officially done a runner and escaped for a few days! Apparently even café owners are allowed out occasionally… who knew?! 🤣
The Farmyard Café will be CLOSED Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday while we disappear off in the Vivaro, drink coffee we haven’t had to make ourselves, and attempt to remember what a day off actually feels like. 😂
💛 We’ll be back and OPEN as normal on Thursday — hopefully refreshed, slightly less feral, and ready to get the frying pans back on!
Thank you as always for keeping us so busy that we need to escapel every now and again. 🤣❤️

📢 ADVANCE NOTICE 📢
Just a little heads-up that The Farmyard Café will be CLOSED next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday — 14th, 15th & 16th September. 🌿☕️
We’ve decided to take a very rare three days off for a much-needed and well-earned break. ❤️
Running the café alongside everything else certainly keeps us busy, so we’re going to switch off for a few days, recharge the batteries and come back refreshed!
We’ll be back open as usual on Thursday 17th September and look forward to seeing you all then. 🐷🐴☕️

We are happy to be the drop off point for donations for Hoofbeats Equine Rehabilitation Sanctuary 😁

Even our cockerel looks impressed with the amazing donation Yvonne left us at The Farmyard Cafe 😮🐓❤️
A huge thank you, Yvonne, and to everyone who so kindly donates items for us to either use here at Hoofbeats or sell to help raise much-needed funds.
Every rug, piece of equipment and donated item really does help us, and we’re incredibly grateful for every single one. 🐴💚

With temperatures still high, our outside play area is proving very popular! ☀️🌳
Sit back and relax while the children play, surrounded by our ponies and pigs—who will, of course, be eagerly watching to see whether anybody has brought them a treat! 🐴🐷😂
It’s a lovely place to enjoy some delicious food, a refreshing drink and a few relaxing hours in the sunshine. 💚
Animal feed is available from the café counter.

🚨 Breaking news from The Farmyard Café kitchen… 🚨

In Steve’s long and distinguished (five-year 🫣) baking career, he has suffered his very first disaster… 😱
We’ve sent him for immediate counselling, provided a strong cup of tea, and assured him that even the best bakers occasionally create a Victoria sponge swimming pool. 😂
He’s currently recovering from the shock, and we hope to bring you some positive news—and a cake with a middle—very soon! 🤞🍰😊

Many of you know Sharon and Steve as the owners of The Farmyard Café, but you may not know that Sharon is also the founder of Hoofbeats Equine Rehabilitation Sanctuary.
In fact, The Farmyard Café only exists because of Hoofbeats.
When the sanctuary was based in the fields right next to where the café is today, Sharon and Steve had an idea: to create a business that could support them financially while still allowing Sharon to volunteer full-time for the charity. Being right next door meant she could pop between the café and the horses whenever she was needed, making it the perfect combination.
Sadly, things changed when the landowner needed the fields back to expand his market garden business, and Hoofbeats had to move to its new home. Although the horses are no longer next door, Hoofbeats remains a huge part of who we are.
The Farmyard Café continues to support the sanctuary in every way it can. Whether it's fundraising, donating supplies, or simply lending a helping hand, Hoofbeats is never far away. In fact, if you've visited us, there's a good chance you've met one of our Hoofbeats volunteers clearing tables, washing up, greeting customers, or helping out around the café when we're busy!
So every time you choose to visit The Farmyard Café, you're supporting more than just a local independent café. You're also helping us continue to support Hoofbeats Equine Rehabilitation Sanctuary and the horses and ponies in its care.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Every breakfast, lunch, slice of cake and cup of coffee helps us continue supporting a cause that's incredibly close to our hearts. ❤️🐴☕
