Just giving you all the heads up again.. There is an increased amount of fake notes being circulated… especially £5 notes… They are also becoming more difficult to detect, especially if you are busy…
The notes hologram has evolved, so if you check where the value of the note is and tilt the note to see that it changes to the word pounds, this now looks like a genuine note, just like the colour of the ink and the raised letters that read “The Bank of England”… the paper even feels like a genuine note…
The give away is if you crease or fold the note and then try and scratch the fold, the ink can be scratched off…
I have now invested in a counterfeit note detection machine, so will hopefully see a reduction in attempts to deliberately circulate them.. I do also appreciate, that you may not knowingly have a counterfeit note in your possession, so will be happy to check any notes that you are uncertain of.
The impact on businesses, especially smaller ones… when we are all trying to ride out the storm of the current cost of living crisis, is hard enough…No wonder more and more businesses are going Cashless.., let’s help keep Cash alive, and try and put a stop to the Fakes!!! X
