🦆 Duck Hunt Around the Village 🦆
Our ducks will start appearing in village windows from the end of this week, just in time for half term!

If you’re looking for something fun to do with the children, why not join in our village duck hunt?

Duck hunt sheets will be available from Yealmpton Stores from Friday onwards and cost £2 per person (cash payment only) or from Pre-School the week leading up to the duck race.

Once completed, sheets can either be brought along to the Duck Race on 6th June, hosted by Yealmpton Athletics Club, or handed in directly to pre-school if you’re unable to attend the event.

We hope lots of you will take part and enjoy spotting all the ducks around the village! 🐥

Over the last couple of weeks, our Pre-School children have been very busy in the kitchen! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

The children enjoyed making delicious cupcakes to share with their friends, as well as helping to buy and prepare ingredients to cook spaghetti bolognaise and tagliatelle carbonara, which they all enjoyed together at lunchtime. 🍝🧁

Cooking activities provide so many wonderful learning opportunities for young children. Through preparing meals, the children develop important life skills such as measuring, mixing, chopping and following instructions, while also building confidence, independence and teamwork.

Sharing mealtimes together also encourages conversation, social skills and positive relationships with food. Sitting together to enjoy a meal helps children learn about turn-taking, communication and trying new foods in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

We are so proud of how enthusiastic and involved the children have been throughout these activities – and judging by the empty plates, the food was a big success too! 😊

We have changed our open afternoon date as we realised that the last date coincided with the Primary School sports day!
Come along on Thursday 2nd July to meet the team and talk about sessions for September if you are looking for a place for your little one 😊

Following our recent story session reading The Mermaid and the Cow, the children have been having some thoughtful discussions about caring for our environment. The story sparked a real awareness of how litter can impact wildlife, oceans, and natural spaces.

To help bring this learning to life, the children took part in a litter picking activity within the school grounds. This is a great opportunity for them to take positive action, develop a sense of responsibility, and see how even small efforts can make a big difference.

We’re really proud of how engaged and environmentally conscious the children have been, and we look forward to continuing to encourage these values.

Pre-School revamp is pretty much all finished and we cannot wait for the children to come in on Monday!

This year we are very pleased to be joining in with Yealmpton Athletics Association and providing a family ‘Duck Hunt’ to run alongside their Duck Race!

We will be hiding ducks in windows around the village (if you’d like your window to be entered please let us know) and providing a clue sheet for you to follow clues to find all of the ducks 🦆

We will be running this competition throughout the week running up to the Duck Race (from 29th May) with all entries to be handed in at the end of the race. The first correctly completed form handed in will win a prize 🤩 all entrants will win a small consolation prize!
