Previously Ethica vegan store on Armada Way from July 2014- May 2019/

Our house espresso is Fat Roc by Voyager Coffee, a triple certified (organic, Fairtrade & Rainforest Alliance certified) blend of Peruvian & Honduran coffees, and we have a choice of 5 plant milks. We also serve organic loose leaf teas, tea lattes, hot chocolates & handmade cold drinks. We make a range of subs and sandwiches on

organic artisanal sourdough, along with soup and cakes & baked goods. Our shop area is stocked with vegan speciality products, such as chocolate, snacks, sweets and convenience foods as well as coffee beans and brewing gear.

We just want to say massive thank you to everyone who visited us on our last 2 days of trading, we were absolutely blown away by all the love and support!!

The past few months have been incredibly mentally stressful, trying to juggle the rising bills, agonising over all the plans & ideas that we didn’t have energy to follow through. We were overworked & burnt-out, and it became easy to lose sight of all the great things about the cafe.

But Friday & Saturday were such an incredible reminder of everything that we loved about Power Plant. So thank you for all the wonderful messages & comments, all the hugs, cards, and kind words, you’ve left us with so many beautiful memories.
And even though it’s devastating to lose everything that we worked on for almost a decade, we can look back and feel proud of everything that we accomplished 💚

It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve made the decision to close Power Plant.
Over the last 18 months our running costs have just kept on increasing, and with footfall declining as people have less money to spend, we’ve reached the point where we’re not going to be able to afford to stay open any longer. We’ll be open as normal tomorrow & Saturday, and then we’ll be closing our doors for good 💔

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful customers over the last 4 1/2 years; it’s been a rocky road, and we wouldn’t have made it this far without the support of such an amazing community.
It’s been an absolute privilege to create a space for people to relax & enjoy; somewhere that people can come for a sweet treat & a chat on a bad day, for a pot of tea when they’re feeling overwhelmed, or as a cosy spot for a first date.

Despite the literal blood, sweat, and tears that went into creating the cafe, we have so many great memories to look back on, and are so grateful to have got to know so many lovely people over the years, thanks for having us!!

We’re super excited to be stocking a range of prints, stickers, and ceramics from the fantastical 🌟

Gabriel (they/them) is a mixed media illustrator and storyteller, whose work centers around reimagining the ordinary through whimsical ‘what-if’ scenarios.
Inspired by dreams, magic, and folklore, they enjoy working with both 2D and 3D materials, and love creating character sculptures and all-ages short comics.

🐦MEET THE MAKER🐦

Joining our makers mart this month we have the multi-talented Gracie of

Gracie (she/her) is a film-maker & photographer with a flair for arts & crafts. After her mum taught her to crochet when she was 7, she’s made countless cuddly critters for friends and family, and has tried her hand at many different crafts since!

You’ll find a selection of her black & white photo prints for sale at Power Plant, as well as handmade candles, earrings, and crochet cuties!

As an animal-loving plant-mother, Gracie draws inspiration from her love for nature, and from her cats, who she plans to someday make famous in a kids’ cartoon!

We’ve got these super-indulgent Almond Frangipane Croissants in the cabinet today 😍
Each handmade twice-baked croissant is filled to the brim with rich almond frangipane, smothered with more gooey frangipane, coated in nutty toasted flaked almonds, and dusted with icing sugar!!

🐸MEET THE MAKER🐸

Joining our makers mart this month is the fabulous Jess of 💚

Jess (she/her) is an illustrator who uses bold lines & bright colours to create cute, relatable, and silly little designs.

She love cats (especially her own), second-hand trinkets, tiny things, and oat milk mochas.
Her favourite colour is green and her guilty pleasure is original Disney Channel movies 🌝

As well as being stocked in our makers mart, you’ll find Jess at local art & illustration fairs, and she also takes commissions for cat portraits; check out her page for more info! 🐈

We’re super excited to be stocking a selection of cute & colourful punch needle embroidery accessories & homewares from 🩷

Lowenna (she/her) is a self-taught artist living in the beautiful Cornish moorland. Due to mental health issues, Lowenna was unable to work for a few years so taught herself digital illustration & calligraphy as a way to relax and focus her mind. She’s since discovered a real passion for punch needle embroidery, turning her fun & funky hobby into a small business!

When she’s not creating for her business, Lowenna spends her time gardening, experimenting with new art mediums, or reading fantasy books and tarot, which help to inspire and influence her art!

We’ve got a brand new bunch of makers featuring in the cafe in February, including the radiant 💚

Shona (she/her) is a sea-swimming, plant-loving, free spirited creative, who transforms mud into beautiful homewares in her little shed in Devon.

As a lifelong nature lover, she takes inspiration from the natural elements (and everyone’s favourite subject, food!), to create objects that capture a free-flowing spirit. Shona hopes that her handmade ceramic pieces will help bring a joyful yet calming atmosphere to your home, that is so important in our hectic everyday lives 🪴

We’ve got these super indulgent Cherry Bakewell Croissants in the cabinet today!! Each buttery vegan croissant is filled with sweet morello cherry-infused frangipane, topped with a classic Bakewell icing, and finished with a sprinkle of toasted flaked almonds and freeze-dried cherries👌
