Having the North York Moors at our front door, we look to reflect its beauty within the dining area and present the real thing, with a perfect view looking over the Garden Centre's outdoor plant display. VACANCY - VACANCY
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Chef/Cook to join our friendly Garden Centre restaurant team in Pickering. The role involves preparing and cooking a variety of dishes including breakfasts, lunches, daily specials while ensuring high standards of presentation and quality.
Previous experience in a cook or chef in a similar role would be preferred. However, the ability to work in a fast paced kitchen and a good understanding of food safety and hygiene as well as a strong organisational and time management skills are just as important.
This role is ideally for 40 hours per week spread over 5 days; but we can consider a 32 hour role spread over 4 days.
Weekend work is required, but shifts finish by 5pm at the latest on a weekday and 4pm on a Sunday.
This role would ideally suit someone who has a passion for food and cooking but no longer wants to work unsociable hours.

Our Garden Centre team are looking for a confident and experienced Retail Assistant who is capable of maintaining our DIY and Pet care Departments. You will have an opportunity to work with customers, offering advice on products as well as interfacing with suppliers to ensure that stock levels are maintained. You will be empowered to select new product ranges, which may involve attending Trade Shows within the UK. You will be merchandising and checking on the health of any Pets in the shop.

This role can be physically demanding, and would therefore be suitable for someone who if physically fit.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a busy and friendly retail environment. If you are customer-oriented, detail-oriented, and enjoy interacting with people, this role would be ideal for you.
Previous Retail experience is desirable, bit not necessary as training will be give and a "can do" attitude is equally important. A Forklift license would be a distinct advantage but not necessary.

We are seeking a customer-focused Garden Machinery Retail Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be working in the shop offering advice on our range of Garden Machinery, , maintaining an organised shop and booking machines in for service and repair.
You will be supported by a team of mechanics who have in-depth knowledge about the machinery in our shop and will also be on hand to offer assistance. Full training will be given.

This role provides an engaging environment someone who is interested in machinery and enjoys helping people.

We are looking for someone to work two days per week, one of which would be a weekend day. This role would ideally suit a self motivated person who would like to work part time. Experience of working with the Public or in a retail environment would be an advantage.

VACANCY - The Engine Shed Restaurant

We have an exciting role for a highly motivated and experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee the day to day operation of the Garden Centre Restaurant.

You will be responsible for both front of house and kitchen; ensuring the consistent delivery of outstanding service and food quality while maintaining compliance with Environmental Health Officer (EHO) regulations.

This role would ideally suit someone who enjoys working in the hospitality industry but no longer wants to work evening shifts.

You will be scheduling staff, overseeing the quality and presentation of food and providing input into the menu options and managing the Suppliers.

If you are Customer focused and have a passion for food; this is the role for you.

This is a permanent and full time position. Daytime hours, scheduled between 8am and 5pm. Further information regarding annual bonus and other benefits are available on application.

We have an exciting opening for a mechanically minded person to work with our existing Garden Machinery Team maintaining our range of garden equipment. You will be servicing and repairing a range of garden machinery as well as assisting with robotic mower installations. This is an opportunity to use your existing skills while improving your knowledge of new technology particularly around wired and GPS driven robotic mowers. If you are a good problem solver with an analytical mind, this is the role for you.

During the Spring and Summer you will be predominantly advising on and repairing all types of garden and forestry equipment as well as installing Robotic Mowers in beautiful gardens. The Winter is given over to working with our team on repairs and maintenance in the workshop.

This position would ideally suit someone who is interested in repairing machinery and also enjoys the variety of working in the outdoors during the spring and summer months. You do NOT need to be a qualified mechanic for this role but a good knowledge of working with small engines would be an advantage. Good communication skills and an ability to solve problems is key to this role. Full training on robotic mowers will be given and and you will be supported in developing your skills to enable you to pick up other aspects of the role.

We are ideally looking for someone who is available five days a week but we would consider an applicant who can work 4 days a week. You will be required to work at least one weekend day per month on a rota basis.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with existing skills and experience.
