Once upon a time there was a drinking club at Burghley House. It was founded by The 5th Earl of Exeter in 1684 and it was called The Honourable Order of Little Bedlam. It had an eclectic bunch of members: The Baptist Earl of Gainsborough was known as Greyhound, The Hon Charles Bertie was The Stag and The Earl of Denbigh was Tyger amongst other nefarious characters. We are not sure who The Bull (rumoured to be The Hon Charles Cecil) and The Swan were and nor are we sure that the club dined at this historic Stamford Public House....but it is highly likely they did. They would have drunk locally brewed ales, feasted on Burghley Estate and other local produce and created total bedlam. Things have a habit of coming round and we look forward to inviting you to dine on our local produce, sup our fine ales and obviously behave very, very well! We've seven amazing bedrooms which are incredibly comfortable beds & great size showers and baths.

December is looking rather busy in Stamford.

Across The William Cecil, The Bull & Swan and Milly’s, we’ve packed the month with Christmas parties, festive feasting, workshops, live music and plenty more besides.

October is here, and with that comes two very exciting additions to Bull & Swan At Burghley - Oktoberfest is going BIG this year (it’s also very sold out soz), and we welcome Hoggys Grill in to the family who will be running his range of incredible grilling workshops and masterclasses from the Secret Garden. The William Cecil Hotel is your spot for everything wellness this month, with yoga classes and Traditional Finnish Sauna in Stamford both on site.

Some things just make sense.

So, we’re rather excited to announce that is moving into Secret Garden. 🔥

It’s a meeting of minds (and appetites) that feels pretty natural. We’ve already had plenty of fun together, and now Hoggy’s has a permanent Stamford home from which we can cook up even more of it.

Expect live-fire cooking, his usual workshops, feasts and plenty of events that probably seemed like a good idea at the time.

🚨 A Small Update on Parking at The William Cecil & The Bull & Swan 🚨

After last time… we’ve taken your feedback on board.
So, we’re pleased to introduce a brand new state-of-the-art (can’t be missed) parking system at our entrance.
A toll booth.
Before anyone panics - parking remains completely free. However, to pass back through the barrier, drivers will now simply be required to provide a selfie with Sergio.
We feel this strikes the perfect balance.
