One final post from myself....
After 8 unforgettable years, the time has come for me to say goodbye as I hand the pub over to its new owners.
What started as a business quickly became something much bigger — a place where our community came together to celebrate, laugh, support one another and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Over the years we’ve tried to create more than just a pub. From marquee football Euros during lockdown with street food, to sending groups of six on a Halloween witch hunt through the woods when restrictions meant we had to think differently. We even found ourselves doing radio interviews while helping to roadmap our way out of lockdown together.
There have been so many incredible moments: comedy nights, karaoke, bingo, pub quizzes, live bands, fire breathers and unforgettable shows. Our famous hot chilli challenge 🔥, champagne breakfasts for horse racing mornings, secret cinema nights, One-Off Wednesdays, yoga and wine, sip & paint evenings, tabletop sales and village fêtes.
We’ve celebrated love with date nights accompanied by live piano, Valentine’s evenings with a violinist, and even hosted a beautiful lockdown wedding.
Christmas and Halloween always brought the magic too — from special events to visits from Elsa and the Grinch that lit up the pub for families and children.
We were proud to support our local community beyond the bar as well, sponsoring both senior and youth football teams — including the incredible moment when Drakes Broughton men’s team lifted the cup.
Another proud milestone was becoming the first pub ever reviewed by the Foodie Review Club — something we’ll never forget.
But perhaps what means the most is what we achieved together as a community, raising £10,678 for charity during our time here.
There are simply too many names to mention, but you know who you are — the regulars, the staff, the musicians, the performers, the volunteers, the supporters and the friends who helped make this place what it became. Thank you for believing in it and being part of the journey.
Running this pub has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life, and I will always be grateful for the memories we created together.
Please continue to support the new owners as they begin their journey here.
And of course, the motto that carried us through it all…
Thank you for everything 🍻
I will not be a stranger to the village and will visit and be on the right side of the bar....
Love from Jeevan ♥️⚡️
