"It had a delicious zestiness unlike any houmous I've tasted before (I eat a lot of houmous!)."

Served with warm, fresh bread and marinated olives, it's one of those simple dishes that's all about quality ingredients and homemade flavour.

"One of the first things I noticed as I arrived, was the connection to nature and how the air feels purer. The hotel’s garden is a thriving micro-ecosystem filled with bees and butterflies buzzing and fluttering through the wildflowers. Two hammocks were swinging in the shade of ancient oak trees and a couple of chickens were nonchalantly roaming around a giant chess set."

Join us at The Royal Hotel, Dockray this Saturday (1st August) for the next Ullswater breakfast talk.

This month's guest speaker is Libby Bateman, Liberal Democrat candidate for the new Mayor of Cumbria.

As well as hearing about policy, Libby will explain what this brand-new mayoral role will actually mean for Cumbria, the powers it will have and how those powers could evolve over time. It's a great opportunity to learn more about a position that will have a real influence on the future of our region, and the chance to ask your own questions about the issues that matter most to you.
