Autumn in Ullswater. šŸ‚

The fells are beginning to change colour, the mornings are a little crisper and thereā€™s that familiar calm around the lake that comes once summer begins to fade.

Itā€™s one of our favourite times of year here in Pooley Bridge. Quieter days for exploring, long walks beside the lake and an evenings spent back at 1863, settling in for dinner shaped by the best of the autumn season.

Weā€™re incredibly proud to share that we have been awarded an AA Notable W**e List Award at this yearā€™s AA Hospitality Awards.

Itā€™s a particularly special recognition for Nuno who has worked hard to create a w**e list that feels approachable, interesting and most importantly, works alongside the food and the experience we want to offer at 1863.

As Nuno puts it, the idea has always been simple: a w**e list for everyone - somewhere you can find something familiar, but also discover something new.

Alongside this, weā€™re delighted to have retained our Three AA Rosettes, Four AA Gold Stars and AA Breakfast Award.

Meet Maddie šŸ‘‹

Although if youā€™ve visited us recently, thereā€™s a good chance you already haveā€¦

Maddie joined us part-time back in November, working with us alongside sixth form. Now, with school finished, weā€™re delighted to say sheā€™s officially joined the 1863 family full-time.

Sheā€™s quickly become a brilliant part of the team and weā€™re very pleased to have her with us. Youā€™ll find Maddie front of house, looking after our guests, learning the ropes and bringing plenty of energy to the team.
