A perfect walk from Penrith to Pooley Bridge 🚶‍♂️

Looking for a new walking route this Summer? How about the Eamont Way, a 5.5 mile walking route from Penrith Railway Station to Pooley Bridge Steamer Pier.

The route follows the course of the river Eamont, crossing it twice. It starts with a series of signed pedestrian crossings from the railway station to the edge of the town, then follows a series of signed footpaths, bridleways and ‘permitted paths’ to exit at ‘The Sun Inn’ in Pooley Bridge. From there it is less than 1/2 mile to the pier for the Ullswater Steamers where onward lake travel to Howtown and Glenridding is on offer and onward from Glenridding to Aira Force.

You could get the bus back into Penrith for just £3 single fare!

A pretty special weekend at 1863 🎸

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the legendary Primal Scream to stay and dine with us while they performed at Kendal Calling.

Yesterday, Phil made the short trip to Plumpton to pick up our first boxes of produce from Nick & Nic at The Veg Patch.

There’s something very special about starting a new collaboration like this — meeting the people behind the produce, seeing what’s growing well and bringing it straight back to the kitchen while it’s at its best.

This week Phil collected carrots, golden beetroot, cavolo nero, fennel, kohlrabi, broad beans, rainbow chard and parsley. The quality is off the charts.

These are the sorts of ingredients that help shape the menu naturally.
