Fifty years, shared with friends.

A couple of weeks ago, we did what felt right for a 50th birthday... We put the kettle on and invited some of the people who've made this journey so special.

Current and past colleagues joined us for a proper tea party, filled with old photographs, well-worn stories, and more than a few "do you remember when..." moments. There was good food, a rather magnificent birthday cake, and plenty of time spent looking back on five decades of Westmorland Hotel.

But we didn't just look back. We talked about what's next too - because if the last fifty years have taught us anything, it's that the best chapters are usually still ahead.

Thank you to everyone who's been part of the story so far. Here's to the next fifty. 🥂

As part of our 50th birthday celebrations, we've been taking a look back through the archives to see just how much has changed since 1976.

Though much has evolved over the years, some things remain unchanged: a warm welcome, a comfortable place to rest, and a deep connection to the landscape that surrounds us. ⛰️

The prize is a 2-night stay at Westmorland Hotel for two people, including a £30 per person dinner allocation each evening (anything over this will need to be paid on departure). Our new Summer menu has arrived. 🍴

From Scottish Hake Fillet with Chilli Crab Tagliatelle to our Chicken & Bacon Pie from Westmorland Bakery, this season’s menu is full of dishes designed to suit everything from sunny afternoons to evenings after a day on the fells.

Last week, our chefs gathered the team to taste every dish on the menu, so if you’d like a recommendation when you visit, we’ll be happy to help. 🍷
