🌿 BIG NEWS FROM BASECAMP! 🦙🦙

We’re incredibly excited to announce that our Basecamp Lakeside Cabins are now LIVE with Canopy & Stars! 🥳

Canopy & Stars are one of the UK’s leading names in unique stays in nature, and a certified B Corp, so we’re genuinely proud to have Basecamp included in their collection.

And judging by the reaction to their announcement, quite a few of you seem to like it too! 😂❤️

Our seven lakeside cabins sit within 155 acres of Cumbrian countryside, overlooking our private lake and surrounded by everything that makes Basecamp, Basecamp.

🍳 WE’RE HIRING, KITCHEN PORTER WANTED! 🍳

It’s that time of year again. Some of the younger members of our team are heading back to university, which means we now have a place available for a Kitchen Porter at Basecamp North Lakes.

The main part of the job is keeping on top of the pots, pans and washing up in our busy kitchen. It’s an important role and helps keep the whole kitchen running smoothly.

There’s also scope to get more involved. If you’re interested in food, you can work alongside our chefs, help with basic food prep and learn more as you go.

Full-time or part-time | Flexible hours

• Pot washing and keeping the kitchen clean and organised
• Helping with basic food preparation
• Putting away deliveries and keeping things stocked
• Supporting the chefs during busy periods
• Staff food and drinks on shift

Fancy a job where part of your day is spent in the butchery and the rest comes with a tour of the Lake District? 🚐 🥩

We’re looking for a Butchery Production Assistant / Delivery Driver to join our growing team at Basecamp North Lakes, between Penrith and Keswick on the A66.

This is a varied, hands-on role. You’ll help our butchery team prepare, pack and organise our produce, then head out in the van delivering orders to customers across Cumbria.

One minute you could be packing steaks and preparing trade orders. The next you could be driving through some of the best scenery in the country. It certainly beats staring at the same four walls all week.

What you’ll be doing:

• Preparing, packing and labelling butchery products
• Helping complete customer and wholesale orders
• Loading and checking the delivery van
• Delivering orders safely, accurately and on time
• Looking after our customers while out on the road
• Keeping the butchery, equipment and vehicle clean and organised

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Reliable, practical and well organised
• Happy working independently and as part of a team
• Friendly and confident with customers
• Comfortable working in a busy food production environment
• The holder of a full UK driving licence

🔪 HEAD BUTCHER WANTED 🔪

A rare opportunity has opened up at Basecamp North Lakes Farm Shop 🥩

With our current Head Butcher retiring from butchery, we’re looking for an experienced Head Butcher to lead our butchery department at our award-winning farm shop between Penrith and Keswick on the A66.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about butchery and wants to make the department their own.

Someone with new ideas, who is willing to try things, develop new products and keep pushing the department forward.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading and developing the butchery team
• Whole carcass butchery
• Maintaining a first-class counter
• Creating new products and seasonal ranges
• Managing stock, waste and margins
• Developing our retail and wholesale trade
• Training and mentoring upcoming butchers
• Working closely with our chefs and other departments to develop new products, dishes and ideas
• Working directly with local farmers and producers to source the very best Cumbria has to offer

You must have excellent communication skills with customers and staff, strong practical butchery skills and the confidence to lead.

🔥 We need your support

Alpacaly Ever After and Basecamp North Lakes are exploring a new floating wellbeing sauna on our private, man-made pond.

The idea is to convert the shell of a traditional narrowboat into a sauna for around 6 to 8 people, with a large panoramic window looking across the water towards the fells.

There would be no accommodation, no engine, no fuel onboard and no foundations required. We chose a narrowboat because it is long, low and discreet, helping us keep the visual impact on the landscape as small as possible.

We’ll offer discounted memberships for local people, while visitors and our existing guests will be able to use it as part of their wider wellbeing experience.

We’re also planning small yoga and stretching sessions by the water, and the alpacas might even join in. 🦙

As a non-profit Community Interest Company, we want projects like this to create real community benefit, support wellbeing and help sustain the wider work of Alpacaly Ever After.

We like to shape how Basecamp grows and operates with your help, so your feedback genuinely matters.
